Late Night Music Club with Dr. John and Jools Holland
My travel blog just published it's annual New Orleans report. It reminded me of this song I remember Dr. John and Jools Holland doing around 6-7 years ago, "The Hand That Changed It's Mind." Swing hard enough for ya?

Jools rocks. The doctor ain't all that entertaining these days, but he's not bad here. I've liked Jools since I heard him back in the 80's - he still rocks hard! Saw the doc last year and he kind of sucked with his angry "you all suck because you weren't in New Orleans" rants through the night. Jools, on the other hand, is still as fresh as ever. Good stuff!
I smell a censor ...

What About Me
Man did that fuckin' swing! I've never heard that tune before, and I vaguely knew who Jools Holland was, but I'm gonna venture out into the intertubes until I find that song. Oh, and the previous poster who was badmouthing The Doctor, all I can say is cut the man some slack. He's a New Orleans original, and NOBODY plays piano like The Doctor.
Jus' need a little brain salad surgery....
number one movie this week was the hannah montana concert film
so for all of you parents who werent dragged by you kids to the theater....enjoy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBjyhVzCIhw
yes...we are doomed
You poisoned my sweet water.
You cut down my green trees.
The food you fed my children
Was the cause of their disease.
My world is slowly fallin' down
And the airs not good to breathe.
And those of us who care enough,
We have to do something.......
(Chorus)
Oh.......oh What you gonna do about me?
Oh.......oh What you gonna do about me?
Your newspapers,
They just put you on.
They never tell you
The whole story.
They just put your
Young ideas down.
I was wonderin' could this be the end
Of your pride and glory?
(Chorus)
I work in your factory.
I study in your schools.
I fill your penitentiaries.
And your military too!
And I feel the future trembling,
As the word is passed around.
[What About Me? lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]
"If you stand up for what you do believe,
Be prepared to be shot down."
(Chorus)
And I feel like a stranger
In the land where I was born
And I live like an outlaw.
An' I'm always on the run..........................
An Im always getting busted
And I got to take a stand........
I believe the revolution
Must be mighty close at hand.......................
(Chorus)
I smoke marijuana
But I cant get behind your wars.
And most of what I do believe
Is against most of your laws
I'm a fugitive from injustice
But I'm goin' to be free.
Cause your rules and regulations
They dont do the thing for me
(Chorus)
And I feel like a stranger
In the land where I was born
And I live just like an outlaw.
An' I'm always on the run.

Stan Rosenthal @ 20:
Hey Stan, does anybody know if ELP did in fact get that album title from "Right Place Wrong Time"?

Speaking of Music Artists... Willie Nelson sure spoke out today. I appreciate that.
Hey Stan, does anybody know if ELP did in fact get that album title from “Right Place Wrong Time”?
I don't know.
Nice choice, Howie! My wife and I have seen Dr. John in a little Seattle club called Jazz Alley every year for the last ten or so. We had her 40th birthday there and he sang to her and brought us backstage for pics. He rocks the place!! Reminded me to check their calendar--and sure enough--he's on for March 11th-16th. "Dr. John: New Orleans R&B Swamp Rock Pianist." See him if you can. Great band.
Here's a nice little jam session with Mack, Professor Longhair , Earl King , and the Meters

They did.
From Wiki:
I didn't even know that the words "brain salad surgury" were in Right Place Wrong Time. Even though I kind've live next to Louisiana (in Texas), I could still never understand exactly what words he was sayin'/singin' in that tune ... nor most other Cajin' dialect ...
On this same theme, where do you think Kansas got the title of their (later) big hit tune, Dust In The Wind?
since everything has been so heated on this blog and others...maybe its time to sit back, relax, and listen to the song stylings of the gentle giant from obama's birth state
somewhere over the rainbow
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe5p1BXNCQM
Obama was born is Kansas? Really????
(hint) BTW: If the person who requested the Brain Salad Surgury would've requested alot of BSS instead of just a little BSS, I would've posted this -

Sorry about that, UJM. There's a big difference between Hawaii and Kansas. Ocean's protect those States from each other. ;-) Not to mention that Utah is in the WAY as well. ;-)

Kool. A cover of a song that doesn't exist titled 'See Me, Feel me (touch me, heal me)' (it was a record company invention, certainly not what the Who intended when they wrote We're Not Gonna Take It for their Tommy album.)

Dr. John, in his autobiography "Under a Hoodoo Moon" explains that "brain salad surgery" is oral sex.
When Dr. John was in school, did he sing in the school's toilet?
I thought Brain Salad Surgery was an album by Emerson Lake & Palmer.

Brain salad surgery is British slang for getting/giving head and predates RPWT.
