C&L's Late Nite Music Club with The Mutants
By Howie Klein Monday Mar 17, 2008 10:00pmThe Mutants were one of my favorite bands in San Francisco's vibrant punk scene in the late 70's. I wrote this article about them in 1979 (under the name Connie Chung) and my indie label, 415 Records released a 3-song 7" debut EP by the band. This track, "Twisted Thing," is from their 1982 album Fun Terminal. They still get together now and then and play, although they live in every corner of the country. The current website is pretty up-to-date.

foist
and quit whining about it
I'd heard a lot about the Mutants, but have only ever seen grainy footage of a live show. Thanks
Here's my favorite early American punk band from the east coast.

Oops, West coast. Heh!
here's some modern swiss punks - teenage kings, huckedict spit, etc. - singing we are the world over at skippy. very funny.

rawstory trumps you...again
love GC
hey connie - what about some of my favs translater & svt ?
Interesting. The Mutants' Dave Carothers in the picture from their website has a couple of old, naval aviation stickers (zaps) on his white drum. The middle one is Fist of the Fleet, and the one on the left is from VF-124 of that era, and has long since been changed.
Given the the band, their earlier era, and zaps of the Vietnam era, there must be a story there, somewhere.
Hey, excellent choice! Heh, now it's clearly time for a follow up with info on/ music from Pink Section or Noh Mercy!
Snowball @ 2:
Vom were an L.A. band, although Meltzer was originally from Rockaway Beach, NY.
big lenny in almaden @ 6:

Wow, memory lane--again.
Teenager at the time, dancing on the wild streets of San Fran.

Too Cool! I remember 415 music too! I was a DJ in Worcester Ma. at the time - weren't Tex and the Horseheads on that album too? I loved that compilation..
cool road trip music. I think I remember that from Princeton U's radio station way back when. Thanks.
I've still got that Mutants single! Friggin' brilliant!
Johnny is an Insect Lounge. These Are the New Dark Ages.
The Mutants were a great band.
Howie and Snowball,
Vom was released on my now-defunct, White Noise label. And we also re-released an expanded version of FUN TERMINAL a few years back.
