C&L's Late Nite Music Club with Peter Gabriel
I really loved Pixar's new movie, "Wall-E," and I was really happy to hear the voice that screams "humanity," sing to us during the end credits. Peter Gabriel wrote the lyrics to the very cool song "Down to the Earth"

great movie.
great message.
skippy's got i don't remember.
I just saw it today and loved it as well... the attitude of the corporatist government is to always choose the easiest solution, which is often not the best. Also a fantastic date movie. ;)
god what a terrible song.
Wow, what a very pretty song that is. An outstanding choice of music to start off this evening's LNMC. Bravo !
The Auto Pilot was made by Diebold.
Saw Wall-E. Entertaining. Kind of hypocritical that the corporation that brought this movie to theaters (Disney) to tell of human garbage, ironically is selling Wall-E trinkets in local stores that will no doubt end up in the garbage. Good message though.

Dont Give Up - Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush

lafin gas, that song with Peter and Kate was beautiful. What a unique way of singing a duet.
Saw the movie.
Loved it.
Telling everyone.
Peter Gabriel's garbage, always has been. "Shock The Monkey" Who can forget that classic.
hey, skippy, thanks for the I Don't Remember tune by PG. Who knows, maybe that scenario is what will be in store for all of us in the near future. Great song and video, though.
Did anyone notice how the seal of the head of the corporation looked a lot like the white house picture in the press room and the seal looked like the presidents seal -- except it said CEO??????
I thought it was an excellent subtle comment on where we are going
I too loved the movie. Can't wait to see it again. It almost had me in tears. My only complaint is that I felt that it ended too abruptly. Anyone else feel that way too?
I saw the movie with my 16 year old son and we both loved it. A kids movie that is so dark adults can love it too. Our favorite was the physical state of human beings 700 years in the future.
Cute movie, we enjoyed it.
Fred Willard, an American original.
Look for Sigourney Weaver.
Peter Gabriel is the man. Good movie, too.
Peter Gabriel, BIKO.
Sound familiar ?
More Peter Gabriel, San Jacinto
me likey PG.!
A little historical perspective on Peter Gabriel.
Well, the start of a historical story at least.

This is Genesis, after Peter Gabriel left. Los Endos.
From the Album. "Trick of the Tail"
You know, Phil Collins did a great job after Peter Gabriel left. Genesis( w/o PG). Carpet Crawlers
Ah, yes ... The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway ... what a great song, especially the On Broadway part at the end that surprises a first-time listener like me. Wow.
Thank you, muddy.
Dance on a Volcano.
Genesis, Trick of the Tail. The first Album released w/o Peter Gabriel
Not a hit. But they made some great music none the less.
It's always great to hear new music from one of the giants, Peter Gabriel. This song may not rank up there with his best, but still great. Can't wait to see the movie.
calgarylady @ 26:
I got a whole lot more my dear. These guys have so much more music. With and Without Peter Gabriel. Peter Gabriel was originally
The lead singer and song writer for Genesis. He bailed for a solo career. But Genesis kept on going without him. And continued to make wonderful music .
Let me see what else I can dig up. Some of the vids aren't any good. but give me a second.
... I'll be here ...
Here CalgaryLady I think you'll enjoy this.
Again, this is from the first album released w/o Peter Gabriel.
Trick of the Tail.
I think this was released in 72.
Genesis, Squonk.

You too, Muddy ... I'm gonna hit the hay myself. Thanks for the tunes ... I shall have some music in the morning to listen to.

I wish I had that!!

When you see the movie again--and it's well worth repeat viewings, without question--stay through the end credits, if you didn't before. No, there's no final secret scene at the end, but the drawings accompanying the credits show not just Eve and Wall-E gamboling together, but they depict the reflowering of Earth, conveying the idea that the return of humanity does lead to the planet's eventual rebirth. The story ends where it should, with the return of humanity to its planet of origin; the success (or failure) of their "re-seeding" of the planet is another story, one that would necessarily take generations to unfold, but we see in these end credit drawings that--in time--their return proves fruitful. Perhaps this is too utopian a future to assume, given all that we have been shown in the preceding tale, but it is in the nature of humans to be hopeful, and the stories we tell ourselves embody not just our fears but also our hopes, not just jeremiads against what is but also inspiration to imagine and work for that which may be.
Mudshark- I know what I like(in your wardrobe)
That's one of my Genesis Faves. What was he in that vid, about 15 years old???
Another one I like, even though it's all squishy and Phil-ish....

Robert1014 @ 42:
Thank you, Robert. Well said.
The instrumental "Define Dancing" is a whole lot better. Any chance an instrumental gets nominated for Best Song (the reason I ask is because I've heard that the rules on the Best Score bans any soundtrack that uses existing materials, and since Louis Armstrong and Hello, Dolly are on there, it might block Thomas Newman's sublime efforts)?
clytemnestra @ 13:
Not exactly subtle. It's more direct and blunt about our current sorry state of affairs... to which I totally agree. If Bush is an example of a CEO President may God give us only middle managers for leadership positions from now on...
lafin gas @ 8:
Don't give up is on of my favorite all time songs and Peter is in my top ten artists...
Juan @ 11:
Yes Juan-Complete garbage. And you should not even consider his Human Rights advocacy either like the song "BIKO".
Oh, by the way are you here in Amerika legally? ICE would like to know
mudshark @ 27:
Yes, that album was a hit- They played several songs on the radio when it was released.
Peter Gabriel has been one of my mentors in life. "Biko" was a song that moved me in a way that opened my three eyes to be empathetic towards international civil rights and to speak up and speak out. Thank you Mr. Gabriel for helping me to be more of a Human Being and less of a Homo Sapien.
mudshark @ 37:
Mudshark- You must be a person who enjoys Zappa.
mudshark @ 36:
There's a future for you in the fire escape trade-Come up to town
But I remembered a voice from my past
"Gambling only pays when you're winning
Had to thank Ol' Miss Mort for schooling a failure"
Keep those mowing blades sharp!
Sorry-just could not resist myself!
larkztongue @ 51:
: )
We (parents and 15 year old) really hated this movie. I love Pixar (even got IPO shares of stock), but I didn't find this movie entertaining. Yes, the little robots are cute, even wonderfully animated. But it was too slow moving, tedious and boring watching the little thing work with all those piles of trash. But come on, holding hands? Talking to each other? A star trek-like space ship? Little fat people that can suddenly walk? I mean, how did they design/build that thing? It's just too far out, too slow, to dark, not enough dialog, a very, very simple story line that I hoped would have ended much sooner.
