RIP Bernie Mac - I don't think I saw anything about him on C&L, maybe I missed it. I can only remember Isaac Hayes for his bizarre South Park exit now.
I'm too young to remember blaxploitation era Isaac Hayes with all the string arrangements and funky grooves but I'll always remember how he made love to women down by the fire. That was hot.
RIP Isaac (or surf the Milky Way with Xenu - whatever it is you folk do)

The music career of Isaac Hayes spans 46 years, yet Shaft is the only song played by the mass media as a musical tribute to the man. When Bob Dylan dies I hope Like a Rolling Stone is not the only track played in memoriam.
Hayes was a coronated King of the Ada coastal district of Ghana in western Africa where he is a member of the Royal Family. Instead of a palace, he built an 8,000 square foot educational facility through his Isaac Hayes Foundation (IHF).
How about ANYTHING OTHER THAN Theme From Shaft? Christ Almighty, someone already mentioned Never Can Say Goodbye, but how about any of the cuts he wrote with David Porter, or something less utterly beaten into the ground. How about Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic?

Skippy knows the score. I had no idea until today that Hayes had co-written Soul Man and I'm Coming, either of which could have been my tribute pick. RIP, Isaac.
Always loved Isaac Hayes. His music was funky and cool and timeless. If there's a Rock and Roll heaven, he's there doin' this thing. Hope he brought enough salty chocolate balls for everybody.
And while we're at it, let's talk about the Bar-Kays, who wound up being his backing band but for my money are far more awesome to listen to. Their performance at Wattstax was blistering! And think if they'd been allowed to ride in on chariots as they'd requested!

I have always thought his distinctive version of Walk On By on the Hot Buttered Soul album was one of his best.
Cyndi Lauper lost one of her primary songwriter last week as well. She is also going to be singing at the DNC convention. I found out when she sang a new rendition of Marvin Gaye's song. She also sang one of Louie Armstrong's song as well, and has the ability to cross over to soul and jazz. I hope she can do one for Isaac Hayes. I would like to hear that. I don't know how to petition a request for that, but I hope that somehow it'll happen.

Well I know Bernie Mac is in a better place.
I hope Mr. Hayes is in one too.

Before Scientology got their claws in him- Isaac was a hero.
Still a fan and still sad to hear King Isaac has passed.

Forget Scientology.
The man was brilliant and a super nice guy to boot.
It's a shame to lose him.
Memphis is a sad city tonight.
RIP, Black Moses...

Another great talent gone, and much too soon. The same with Bernie Mac, who was only 50.
This sad news was the first news article I read this morning. RIP guy, RIP. :(

Why anyone would wish another to rest in picante sauce I'll never know.
But that may be fitting for a Chef.

"Goodbye, Children!"
I always loved Hayes as Gandy in the Rockford Files. RIP Isaac.

I like the ghetto song he sang, I don't remember the name but its funky and hip. but "Ghetto" was in the name of the title somewhere.
thx, long tooth!
Heaven just got a little bit louder and with a lot more gold chains too. RIP, Brother!
Damn...Isaac Hayes, and Bernie Mac, you will both be missed.
