Late night....where?
Yeah sorry guys the LNMC was on Beijing time there for a few.... - BG
This may be nitpicking but 8:15 AM a little early for "late night"?
Oops?
WOW!!!
Late night in China?
"The other night, I got home really, really late. In fact, it was the next night."
- Steven Wright
What time does Ray Charles think it is? Oh, shit, he's dead.
Here's a better vid (for daytimers!):

The Obama add we'll never see run.....(but should!)
That's whatcha call bringing down the house.
Fricken AWESOME!
Hmmm... Did I sleep last night? Or am I dreaming now? Man, things sure are weird if I'm dreaming about Crooks and Liars.
At any rate. That video was MOST enjoyable. Thanks.
What time is it?
Does anybody really know what time it is?
Eh, so waht...definately worth it!
Damn, that kicked! I need a cigarette...
FWIW, its 10:47pm in Indonesia.
Have any idea what? They seemed to be enjoying it, no secret who was on stage, etc. So what's your question?
All of you goofs clearly with too much time to waste, should realize those three pianists were inaugural inductees in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Thank You! That was great.
BTW, was that Carl Pickens at the end of the clip?

Ummm....ok.
But could they turn day into night?
That was freaking awesome! Thanks!
A whole lotta talent in that little clip. If it were late at night, that would sure wake you up!
Well, clearly someone had a late night. Then again this is my type of resurrection.
Jesus Lord, and I'm an atheist.
When did you change to Rocky Mountain time?

House of pain. :p
OMG thanks for that clip. Brother Ray, The Killer and Fats Domino together. Now that's great music. As someone on YouTube said it that don't make ya smile and feel good then you might as well commit suicide 'cause nothing will.
Ray Charles Leon Russell Willie Nelson - A Song For You

This is not Letterman, even though the set is vaguely similar.
See
OK, let's try that again: http://www.tvdvdreviews.com/press/fatsfriendspress.html

Amazing finale from all the greats of Rock & Roll , Blues and Soul. A real treat for music lovers Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Ray Charles, BB King and more

Frank Lee @ 36, thanks for that gem with Ray Charles and one of my all-time favourites, the outstanding Willie Nelson. Beautiful.
Uncle Joe @ 42, that was hilarious. I have to ask, though, what does South Park have against us canucks ? We're really not that bad.
Never been a boogey woogie fan, but that one made me teary eyed.
Thanks bluegal for that Ode to Joy.
Calgary Lady,
That's the joke. Get it?
best late night music club yet and thanks to the guy who put up the Carl Perkins....ahh youtube......
Paul Schaeffer once had hair? Who knew? ;)
Funny to watch Paul Shaffer run around like a mother hen tending to those musical greats. He's quite a talented musician in his own right.
46, yeah, I get it. I was just kidding. I'm just bitter that the canucks haven't won any medals at the games yet :-)
bluegal, thanks for the treat. GNA.
Wow, some good rockin' tonight.
That and the Charles/Nelson/Russell clip . . . just wow.
Not Letterman, methinks this was an early Saturday Night Live episode (Paul Schafer led the SNL band in the early days).
AWESOME CLIP!
a little different take on the subject...stevie ray vaughn & the fabulous thunderbirds doing what'd i say? over at skippy...
Ho-lee SHIT!!! That was AWESOME!!! Only Little Richard is missing from this pantheon of piano-playing rock and roll superstar pioneers. Especially nice to see Fats, who I love and who I've rarely ever seen on TV. Thanks!!!
THAT is what you call entirely too much fun! Thanks, bluegal, for jump-starting my engine this morning...
(Special tip of the halo to FLS at #40: If it gets better that that, friends and neighbors, I don't wanna know 'cause my heart won't be able to take it!)
WOW!
Paul Simon - Run that body down

Take care of yourself baby!
That was incredible.Took me back in time. Thanks!!
I think that someone already mentioned this. This is one of the early Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, maybe even the first one. Paul Shaeffer has been the musical director at all of them, and was the MC at the earlier ones as well, before they were at the actual museum. This one may have been ON the SNL sound stage or the Letterman stage, but I'm sure it is the induction ceremony for these guys.
I saw Ray Charles and BB King do a rare concert together in a rather obscure country. It was a freakish coincidence of events, a fluke, that those two should appear together in such an out of the way venue--1990, on tour around the world, and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Absolutely awesome show.
Hate to correct you, but this was not on Letterman. This was a music special released on VHS as "Fats Domino and Friends". It's a tribute to the New Orleans giant with Ray Charles and Jerry Lee Lewis as guests. I know because I owned the tape.
That was fu*king great! The best clip I've ever seen on Crooks & Liars. We are the luckiest country in the world to have had talents like Ray Charles and entertainers like Jerry Lee and Fats and Carl Perkins for that matter. Oh yeah, and Ronny Wood wasn't half bad.
skippy @ 52, I tried to visit the skippy music club after C&L but the darn internet tubes went poof on me for the rest of the evening. Then I tried to post at skippy but couldn't. Gah !
Ray with some other friends.

This Pevar dude tears up anything with strings.
WOW. what a way to start the day.
I also wonder what the audience comment meant. That being in '82, who wouldn't have known whom they were witnessing? Frankly, I kept waiting to catch some later-to-become-famous person singing backup or something.
Too bad Ray couldn't see Paul's cue for the end. Paul should've had the others hold 'son of a gun' for twice as many bars ('son of a guuuuunnnnnn'), and the same with the next line. Then Ray would've been in on it. Not that he screwed up or anything. Just woulda been a nice cue.
Re: fourmorewars @ 65
Obviously people knew what they were witnessing once it started. The point was whether they knew what was coming beforehand, like when they received their tickets, or while they were waiting to enter the studio, or even when the show first began.
I needed something to lift my spirit today and this did the trick. Thank you.
Their music stirs America's soul (with joy!) more than any lame made-in-China flag lapel pin. Brought tears to my eyes....
Fantastic find. I would've been screaming like a tweenage girl at a Beatles show in 1964.
Get well, Ronnie.
When music was music! Floored.
Music is such as universal force.
