The best

{ Deleted, take it to an open thread.SiteMonitor}

so long, leroi.

peace, frog.

I was at the show last night. Dave mentioned it after the first song. Those guys exhibited a lot of courage by playing the show. There were moments where you could see the guys crying while they were playing. I know it's speculative but I can't imagine most bands losing a founding member and playing that very night. And to top it off they played a 3 hour set.

I've never been a huge fan and I usually only go because my girlfriend IS a BIG fan, but I'm a huge Dave Matthew's fan now. I can't believe how everyone seemed to just be in this big embrace for the duration of the concert.

I won't forget last night for some time.

Sad news indeed. Leroi died too young, as did Jim Morrison (thanks, bullfrog, for the clip).

Ozzie Oz almost died on an ATV..this fellow has...Hey Musicians..."STAY ON THE STAGE, AND OFF THE ATV'S!!!!

Way too young. God Bless.

Damn shame.

Play on, LeRoi.

thanks...listened to DMB all night last night...so sad....what a week...rip leroi...

AMEN.

Way too young.

This really sucks.

Thank you for providing the inspiration.

Carry on, LeRoi.

[Deleted. Come on. That's hardly appropriate on this thread-Sitemonitor]

Was very sad to hear about LeRoi's passing. I have most of the band's albums.

Very sad news indeed. I was still reeling about Stephanie Tubbs-Jones' death earlier this evening when I found out about this on a music site I frequent.

First Bernie Mac. Then Issac Hayes. Then Rep. Tubb Jones. This has been a horrible two weeks. :(

If Dave had died first, who in the MSM or in C&L would have cared? Just asking.

'If Dave had died first, who in the MSM or in C&L would have cared? Just asking.
-You my C&L friend, are an idiot.

LeRoi's presence is on every song, this is one of the tightest bands still playing today, appreciated by everyone who knows what they are listening to. He will be sorely missed.

Wow, what a dick. Maybe they'll ask the same about you some day.

Not a huge DM Band fan myself, but have great respect for their community involvement and charity work. They seem like genuinely good people.

RIP Mr. Moore

It's always a tragedy when someone with so much talent dies.
Rusty, thats one of the things that make this band so good. They're good people.
R.I.P. LeRoi

Dave isn't a bad actor, either. Did a great one-episode gig on House last year. Pretty cool.

Sad when anyone dies.

Still doesn't change the fact that the DMB is the single worst band in the history of recorded music.

I used to go see Leroi play years before he joined that crappy frat-rock band. He was a great saxophonist and a wonderful human being.

What a huge loss to the world of music. Such incredible talent. I was never a fan until a few years ago when my wife took me to see them in West Palm. We have gone every year since and now take our son who has become a huge fan.

can't even put the loss into words but like Dave has said, it's easier to leave than to be left....prayers out to the band and to Leroi's family...DMB has been a part of my life since they started - even our son is named after Carter Beauford...he will be missed TREMENDOUSLY....

It's good to see all of the love and support going out. This just proves that his contribution to DMB really touched a lot of people personally. I know the fans (like me) will all miss his contributions to the music world! We just need to keep showing the love and sharing the music!

I'm a very sad bartender tonight. *sigh*

Just outta curiosity, where did you get the video for this? It's a raw feed, not I-Mag, since it's crowd level. Whoever is shooting has a pretty steady shoulder, too. Just wondering.

Most of all I hate this loss for future fans who will never know what an amazing experience they've missed out on. My first show presents a lasting memory of Leroi breaking it down at Jazz Fest, New Orleans with a local trumpet player. That is truly a moment in time that will never escape my mind. You will be missed greatly. My condolences to the greatest band on planet earth and all my fellow fans. R.I.P. Leroi

I'll miss you Leroi. There will always be an empty space on stage and in the music without you.
