C&L's Late Night Music Club with Blue Oyster Cult

If all the seeds from all the weedy dime-bags ever cleaned on this album cover were ever gathered together and sown simultaneously, side-by-side, from space the surface of the Earth would look like a Chia Pet.

........Chia pet. Great visual, got a good laugh from that thanks.

But, it does bring up the question: What would be the #1 Album cover of all time for general weed maintanence?

I'll go ahead and start with my guess:
Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon.

Top seller for years makes it hard to beat?

Best and most true into for a LNMC yet! You'd NEVER clean your lid on the White Album. PEACE!

[Deleted. This is the music thread, not the post in ALL CAPS. Nasty email addy too 'Gozer.' Got some penile insecurities or what? Sitemonitor]

driftglass you are the crown jewel of late night music club

Genesis, Trick of the Tail. It was light yellow, you could see the scraps in the fold.... There's probably still some left on it.... ;D

Great choice of tune, BTW.

Awesome! Fire of Unknown Origin is one of the greatest albums of all time, from start to finish. I saw BOC this January and even though it was in a casino's ballroom where everyone had to remain seated, they totally rocked. So many amazing songs.

I say the BOC in Paducah KY in the early 70’s at their Burley Mart (a place where they auction off tobacco). No chairs and a concrete slab floor. They were handing out fifths of Jack Daniel. We didn’t have any album covers so we had to wing it. The place did not smell like tobacco that night. It was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to in my life.

Great choice of music, driftglass. As for Dan's question, a sheet of paper is much better than a hard old album cover for such tasks (the seeds roll off effortlessly).

:-)

chia pet, that's hilarious.

i can just envision how many C&L readers are packing bowls at this precise moment after reading that

Calgarylady we used the lid of a shoe box. Such great memories of such bad weed!

Betcha were just waiting for a month with an 'r' to post this.

Nicely done, again Dude.

Yer still my fucking hero.

Busted.

Ah yes, Exokie, the glorious memories! Good times.

Later BOC, which was weak.

Have to go with the first couple of LPs, like this one-

As for the best cover for cleaning the smokes. Double of course. Let's see....humm..
Quadraphenia was good, but a little intense of partying with your pals. Plus the book got in the way. Atco's The Best of Otis Redding got a lot of use. As did Electric Ladyland and The History of Eric Clapton...but for sheer poundage, I would have to say the DFHs used Dirt Band's Will the Circle Be Unbroken most often. Yes, yes its bluegrass but mid-70's was that period and lots of festivals to sleep in the mud for. Lots of campfires to pass out around.

Anyway, brings back memories and I had to look on the shelf at all my old vinyl.

Thanks for the reminder.

My teen daughters love that show Supernatural ~ the music, the car, the dudes. Oh to be young and insane!

As I remember it, it was "whatever album was the nearest"

“whatever album was the nearest”

That had a folding cover. So you could open it up and sort of shake everything to the fold and the seeds would roll down...lotta stuff cleaned on Taj Mahal, Grand Funk Railroad, Bold as Love, the White Album, Bitches Brew.

tales from topographic oceans

BOC, still one of the best bands around. I've lost track of how many times I've seen them.

Killer-Diller, Mr. D. Glass! I am a long-time Cult fanatic from their very first album! (Was lucky enough to get Eric Bloom and Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser to autograph it, too! Very gracious gentlemen...) Buck's guitar has been taking me to other places, both live and recorded, probably longer than any other. Thank you!

Dan@#1, you're probably right about Dark Side being the most utilized LP jacket for de-seeding...but I can see your point, too, Moi@#5. Personally, I think I used the Yardbirds Over, Under, Sideways, Down the most, simply because I had it the longest...and I LOVED Jeff Beck in those early days!

I'm amazed someone hasn't posted that SNL skit yet.

I only bought a few 45's before moving to tapes and then CD's. Have to say the frisbee always worked great for sorting.

I'll chip a little somethin' somethin' for the evening:

The albums with folding covers are called "gatefold albums" in the biz. Good list, to which I'd also add some albums by Led Zeppelin and prog-rock bands like Yes and King Crimson. I also knew a lot of people who used a Frisbee to clean their weed.

See, there you go. The disc rim helped contain and eliminated many an accidental spillage.

Ya bunch of tree hugging, pot puffing leeberals. I saw BOC a couple of times back in the 70s. Once with Kiss and another time with Styx. Buck Dharma is an amazing guitarist. You gotta love a guy that admits he needs to warm up for 10 minutes before even attempting one of his own songs. ( Bucks Boogie ). Dont need to sift the stash out so much these days. Just need a good pair of scissors. Well ,in Canuckistan anyways.

I imagine a green world like that would solve many of our ills. Gobble up a lot of carbon, and brownies.

Ah what a wonderful life it would be!

once again, in awe of drifty

I want a Chia Pet Earth. ^.^

--------->1 Dan Says:

"Dark Side of the Moon": truly great. I've had the LP, 8-track, casette, CD, and now MP3 format. Never get tired of it!!

In S.E. Asia you still get seeds. In Canada, never. It's all (very good) grow-op high-tech stuff. ...Or, so I've been told. ^.^

For us it was Allman Bros' Eat A Peach. Between the artwork and Mountain Jam it kept us busy for years!

I am so jealous of all of you that had the chance to grow up stoned in the 60s/70s.

Before the kiss, a redcap. If that song, played loud, doesn't kick you up a couple notches, you can't be kicked.

"Arose he not from anywhere that you would know or I would care'

Dominance! Submission!

The GOP and the American People.

I love the fact that a Supernatural fanvid was posted here at C&L.

My ex boyfriend used to use Brain Salad Surgery for his de-seeding. I used to roll.

All they ever seemed to play on the radio by BOC was Don't fear the Reaper, one of their wimpier songs. Folks who only know that song don't realize how much BOC kicked serious rock-and-roll stun-guitar ass.

The first two albums were the best if you like the hard stuff... songs like The Red and the Black, Transmaniacon MC, Then Came the Last Days of May...

And if you haven't done so, ITunes for some utterly unknown reason will sell you both CD's worth of Workshop of the Telescopes (Greatest Hits: about 30 selections) for 9.99.

The Who, Join Together.
As for the cleaning issue, No seeds and Bob Marley.

Workshop of the Telescopes

Good song, but it needs more cowbell.

BOC is one of my favorite bands, saw them in August and they still rock!
Cities On Flame!!!!

BOC's "On Your Feet, or On Your Knees" was a better album for said task. The gate fold worked well to prevent spillage.

i love Boc as much as anybody on this thread, but i feel that it should be noted that Buck D is a neo con repub, he had a political board on his site that was eventually taken down as he couldn't keep up with his side of the story.

Now that really sucks

BOC albums had a lot of depth and were very literate. You'd get hooked on the single, listen to the album a few times, and quickly found that the more obscure songs had taken a hold of you. 'Joan Crawford (has risen from the grave)', 'Black Blade', 'Astronomy Domine', 'Tattooed Vampire', and of course 'Fire of Unknown Origin.'

An example of everything we spike haired, drain-pipe trousered, safety pinned cheeked snotty little assholes rebelled against with the punk movement 30 years ago. Yuck.

My favorite band. I wandered around Buck's board when there were one or more political flame wars going on, but I wasn't politically aware at the time. I've been wondering what his leanings are. I guess the kool-aid works on the brightest among us too.

Dude! You are NOT a true BOC fan! Astronomy Domine is by Pink Floyd, Astronomy is by BOC.

Why these guys aren't in the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame is beyond me...

best album cover for weed mgmt: Bruce Springsteen, Born to Run. Even though it was a single album, it opened like a book and the interior along the inner spine was white - Easy to pick out the good from the bad.

GREAT ALBUM!!!!! One of the all-time greatest guitarists - Buck Dharma! If you are a fan of guitar - you MUST see them live ASAP!
