Late Night Music Club with Chuck Berry

I just know that, 1,000 years in the future, some kid is going to be toolin' 'round Saturn, just killin' time cruisin' the rings in his gravitically powered spacecraft, and she'll dial this one up and think, "This RAWKS!"

Andy, did you forget something?

you're probably right, andy. chuck berry is already inscribed across the cosmos.

and, off-topic, but i am bleedin' blue... a thousand years from now, ron santo's head will be in a cryogenic jar, moanin', "aww, no...", waiting for the cubs to win a world series, and to get himself into the hall of fame.

There ain't no music...this new site is getting stranger and stranger.

And may I note again that requiring 'http://www.
..' for a homepage thesedays is just bizarre.

KUWAIT CITY (AP) — A Kuwaiti official says authorities abruptly ended a music concert by an Egyptian singer in this conservative Muslim country when a young female fan jumped on stage, hugged the male singer and gave him a kiss.

Qanas al-Adwani, who heads the government department that monitors public entertainment, says the girl's behavior at Friday's concert "defied the conservative traditions" of Kuwait.

Al-Adwani also said Sunday that the fan's behavior broke controls on public entertainment, which were imposed by influential Muslim fundamentalists after they failed in 1997 to ban concerts altogether. Concerts have to be licensed by the government, and monitors from the Information Ministry watch the crowd to make sure nobody stands up to dance.

I've always liked Chuck Berry. "Johnny Be Good" gets me out of my seat. It was great to hear him live and not lip syncing. I wish I could have gone to one of his concerts back in the day.

Rawkin' spacecraft aloft! I'm givin' it all I got, captain, she can't take much more!

Thanks, A :)

Chuck Berry is still pumpin' out the tunes live. Saw him couple years ago at Lake Tahoe, duck-walk included!

... has been in touch with me just now. I need to dock the space station and refuel for the evening.

I will be keeping the channels open for any incoming radio transmissions, of course.

Chuck Berry is always fantastic. Thanks, Andy!

i'm guessing you know the old snl/steve martin bit, "news from next week."

meanwhile, skippy has more chuck berry, w/etta james, doing rock n roll music.

Not long before he died, Wolfman Jack taped a pilot for a Midnight Special-like rock concert show and I played bass in what would have become the house band. We backed up Chuck Berry who was one of the guest artists. During the lunch break, I sought him out in a dimly lit corner of the sound stage to say, "I just had to come and tell you what an honor and a thrill it was to perform with you."

"I know it," was all he said.

I loved that.

Andy K, how did you know that Chuck Berry just KILLS me? And with all his tunes, it's tough to pick a favorite. "Johnny B. Goode" is a classic, of course, but here's a killer I managed to locate: It's an extra-long version of "Roll Over Beethoven," with a verse of "Sweet Little Sixteen" thrown in for good measure and PLENTY of that patented rockin' guitar!

You may know that he was the first person to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum...but did you know he was on hand for the actual original ground-breaking of that edifice on June 7, 1993? True fact. He was there shoveling dirt with Peter Townshend, Billy Joel and several others I am ashamed to say I do not recall...

The coolest thing about living in St. Louis is knowing that any month you want, you can come see Chuck Berry play his old school rock n roll.

He's a real living legend.

For all you Chuck hounds out there who don't already have it, "Chuck Berry Live at the Fillmore" with the Steve Miller band is a whole different side of the man He does a smoking version of "Flying Home," the big band tune, and the rest is mostly blues.

Ah, yes, Chuck Berry.

The first guitar hero.

The first great rock schtick.

The first great songwriter, dubbed the "poet laureate" of rock and roll.

The first white....

Oh wait, he's not white. That's why he was never named The King of Rock and Roll.

Elvis be damned.....

Chuck is the real king of rock & roll!!

my favorite.....Memphis, TN

Now that, boys and girls, is Rock 'N Roll...no mixer, no soundboard, no P.A.,no electroncs, no enhancement, just 5 Cats with amps & instruments, playing like there's no tomorrow.

The French crowd did look a bit stuffy, dontcha think ?

Agreed. They were sooo stiff, I thought they were Brits. No one is smiling or even tapping their feet. How can you listen to this LIVE and not have a big ol' grin and keep your feet from jumping? I guess this is the uptight world Ginsberg & the beats were talking about.

Really cool comments. To my fellow St. Louisian, thanks for the plug about the BlueBerry Hill shows.
