C&L's Late Night Music Club with Paul McCartney and Wings

Title: Magneto and Titanium Man
Artist: Paul McCartney and Wings

And now, three-and-a-half minutes of seemingly fluffy/bouncy/goodfeel from the freshly post-Watergate year of 1975 that I've always suspected was not-very-obliquely referring to Richard Nixon and John Dean (among others), the "Saturday Night Massacre" and, when played backwards, Charo.

I've never heard it before.

How freaking cool is that? Awesome, lafin! I loved that!

I must acknowledge them as well.

Time for zeds now. Thanks for the excellent tuneage tonight.

but there is deft musicianship at play here. Thanks for posting a great song that I haven't heard in years.

Most enjoyable, driftglass!

Beer, Helping white folks dance for over 4 hundred years.:)
Ga Nite folks, be well.

Long Tall Sally

Thank you for the tunes this evening, mudshark.

five to ten thousands years most likely,
when the first farmers harvested their crops in Mesopotamian, you can bet they were dreaming of the next beer harvest too.

...Yet somehow inspired choice.

Thanks!

But wait, this is a cover by The Faces, possibly one of the ten greatest rock and roll bands ever? Ronnie Lane's smile transcends the grave in this clip, it gives me chills. And it's so easy to forget just how fantastic Rod Stewart was when he was doing rootsy rock and roll, country, blues, and bluegrass with that unique smokey voice.

stunning song

OK

How's this?
Mandolin Wind

McCartney honed his craft standing shoulder to shoulder with Lennon. Unlike Harrison or Starr, neither ever again deferred to the musical sensibilities of anyone else (per my ears, their wives do not count). As rich- and, in John's case, abbreviated- as was/is their solo work, their sound suffered for it, if only because the Fabs once spoiled us all.

To fellow Beatle Maniacs everywhere who have yet to tune in, I heartily recommend Beatles-A-Rama.com. You can thank me later.

. . . thanks to Sir Paul's "other" band. Still remember getting punked out of a seat at the "Wings Over America" tour by being dragged on a "family trip" in '76. Thanks, Drifty for another old gem from the old AOR lockbox.

It has a certain something, and sounded so good on vinyl.

Sorry to be the voice of dissent here, but gawd, how I dislike this song. (Trying to avoid the word "hate" this week, so.) And this band...

Like most Beatles fans, I have very mixed feelings about Paul's solo career. I think Ram is one of the most underrated albums around, I enjoy a fair number of his albums with Wings (particularly the also underrated London Town), and I have little use for anything he's recorded since 1980 or so. But I've always viewed "Magneto" as a true guilty pleasure. There are a few other bright spots on Venus & Mars ("Venus & Mars/Rock Show" is fun enough, and "Listen To What The Says" is, though banal as hell, classic McCartney pop), but "Magneto" is sheer joy for reasons I just can't explain. Nice to see I'm not alone.

Thank You for this selection.I've been playing this tune in my head all day.
Magneto and Titanium Man.
