Late Night Music Club with Frank Zappa
Happy Zappadan, everybody! Zappadan is the on-blog festival which begins today, the anniversary of Frank Zappa's death (also known as BummerNacht) and ends on his Birthday (Day Zero) on December 21.
Lots of blogs participate by posting videos, memories, or making fresh art with the knowledge that even though he's dead, "Frank and his amazing creativity still have the power to hurt us." More info at Fried Green Al Qaedas, and you can follow both @Zappadan and the #zappadan hashtag on Twitter.
And if you're not (yet) a Zappa fan, The Onion has some words for you.

Nothing demonstrates religious fervor more than shoving one of these up an angel's rectum.

Diabolus est Deus Inversus
So you like to shove an angle up your arse? Duly noted!
Bite my shiny metal ass.

Ouch. Angles are sharp.
far left loon >.<
Common mistake. I once asked my Mom why they had angel (angle) parking.
far left loon >.<
It's for the fallen angels.
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
They now drive Yugos.
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
But to be technical Prince Albert brought the Christmas Tree custom to England from his Germany, where it seems to be a successor to Yggdrasil, although one could easily say it is the Tree of Life of Genesis
And Americans picked it up from the Brits.
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
Sounds about right, but keizer Ferdinand got all the decorations and presents in to it!
Bite my shiny metal ass.

And we North Americans super-sized the keizer's presents tradition into Walmart stampedes. Boy, did we ever! :)
far left loon >.<

Released in 1966 (!!); regarding our TV folk, apparently little has changed in 40+ years:
Well, you can cool it,
You can heat it . . .
'Cause, baby, I don't need it . . .
Take your TV tube and eat it
'N all that phony stuff on sports
'N all the unconfirmed reports
You know I watched that rotten box
Until my head begin to hurt
From checkin' out the way
The newsman say they get the dirt
Before the guys on channel so-and-so
And further they assert
That any show they'll interrupt
To bring you news if it comes up
They say that if the place blows up
They will be the first to tell,
Because the boys they got downtown
Are workin' hard and doin' swell,
And if anybody gets the news
Before it hits the street,
They say that no one blabs it faster
Their coverage can't be beat
And if another woman driver
Gets machine-gunned from her seat
They'll send some joker with a brownie
And you'll see it all complete...

Easily one of most misunderstood and underappreciated artists of the 20th century. I must have 3 purchased copies of "overnite sensation", not to mention about a dozen other albums.
And just to prove my point,my sisters husband, who in ancient times was a trombone player in Buddy Rich's orchestra for about 5 years, would come to my house and ask me to play "some of those albums from that guitar player".
You should have opened with a video for "Watermelon in Easter Hay".
of my life was seeing FZ and TMOI as a very young walrus at the Trauma in Philadelphia. It was life changing.
He should be alive today. What a loss.
Bobby Brown.
Someone suggested Watermelon In Easter Hay.
PorkyPine, Mele Kalikemaka.
Black Napkins.
Inca Roads.
There is just so much .
There ain't nuthin like startin yer day blastin FZ at 6:30 in the mornin.:)
What is your conceptual, continuity?
I still remember hearing a twenty second mention of Frank's death on some horrible Arizona rock station. That was the day I stopped listening to radio. His best solo to me is Rat Tomago, but there are too many close seconds. Much respect!
Hot Rats.
