C&L's Late Night Music Club with Buddy Guy

Title: Best Damn Fool
Artist: Buddy Guy

The cleaner version of this fine, sweet tune (from the album "Skin Deep") runs a little too long for LNMC but is available here.

This one was recorded at 2nd annual Roots and Blues festival in Columbia, Missouri.

Buddy Guy is fabulous! Wow!

All the greats seem effortless , they dont have to wonder how history will look upon their "accomplishments" This man is so humble. Great post , FANTASTIC source of news and comment you have on this site , congrats on all your well deserved accolades

... thanks driftglass.

Has Legends moved yet?

I thought that was more of a blues and roots festival. Or maybe I'm confusing it with the Isle of Lucy Festival?

More in the zone than I remember from seeing him last year. Tough being a legend. When both Clapton and Hendrix called you the greatest, it's hard not to disappoint. Seen it before if people know their finger-pickers. John Fahey giving a little monologue, "I'll never play as fast a Leo Kottke. But they are MY songs and here is how they are supposed to be played!"

But, yeah. If Buddy Guy is in town, who you going to see who's better?

Justy absolutely kicks ass...
C&L Finally covers a great musician, and he only gets 5 hits? WTF is qith that?

Used to live in Chi & went to see Buddy a few times at Kingston Mines.

About Corey Osborn - My first exposure to Corey was thru a friend's iPod: "Me: Wow! That guy is pretty good, who is that? Him: It's this guy who was playing at BB King's when I was there last August - he was selling CDs right there & I bought one - never seen him in stores - his name is Corey Osborn. Me: Can I rip that?"

Corey died in a car accident shortly after Thankgiving 2008, & I will miss his talented playing.

Here's a video that captures that certain magic that is Beale St at night, & features a little snippet of Corey playing 'Hey Joe' -

Last, here is a eulogy to Corey by someone much more eloquent than I am: http://andrew-edstrom.blogspot.com/2008/12/co...

Like him, I'll be listening to "My Bel Air" & thinking of the worlds that opened up when I first heard Corey play.

Good Night.
