Eric Johnson told me he and Johnny are best friends and jam all the time. But, you probably know that.
saw Johnny Winter at the Diamond Club in Toronto many moons ago, amazing talent!! I like that...the whitest axe man...
I was working in the light show at the Vulcan Gas Company on Congress Ave in Austin, the night the Atlantic record people came to see Johnny. I used to sell him reefer in Flying Dutchman cans.
Wish we all could be Flying Dutchmen!
{ Deleted. Take it to an open thread. This is the LNMC. SiteMonitor}
Mean Town Blues.
That slide vibrato is mind-boggling. Doing that shit is hard.
Be careful with a Fool.
That Johnny Winter is Still Alive and Well .
Crank it Up
Gotts ta have my mornin mania music.
As it was a celebration of 30 years of recording by Dylan. No other artist has covered as many genres of music, written so much quality music, expressed more about America or toured endlessly than Dylan. Johnny Winter was only one great artist who came out that night to celebrate Bob's music.
The Halloween episode of The Simpsons where Homer runs the two of them over because he thinks they're zombies is hilarious.
BB King and Bobby Blue Bland.
I've been a johnny winter fan for 35 years and have traveled countless miles to see his live shows. Johnny is "still alive and well" and is back touring again, under new management. Thanks to Paul Nelson he's kicked his 30 year heroin addiction and tours non stop.We traveled to the Rex theatre in Pittsburgh last year to see him.[ a 200+ mile round trip] It's was great to see this video posted on C&L this morning. My coffee tasted 10 times better than usual. Johnny has slowed down a little on the guitar over the years, but he, IMHO, is the best white blues guitarist of all time. If you get the chance to see johnny don't pass it up. i took a bunch of pics at the pittsburgh show from just in front of the stage. you can enjoy them here:

johnny winter is the shit. can anyone recommend a good first album to buy? i bet live would be preferred...
Dave,
I would suggest Second Winter or The BEST OF to get started...I have them all and would be more than happy to b#*n a couple for you.you can contact me via the pic link above.
not neccessary but i really appreciate it!
I have always liked his John Dawson Winter III album. Good set of tunes and the usual kick-ass guitar wizardry by Johnny.
face melter
For a while this DVD was very rare, despite the all star cast of performers. Good thing we have YouTube now!
He can't walk too well, but he can still play the hell out of the blues.
I had heard he was only playing blues tunes, no rock.
But he actually rocked the hell out of Highway 61 Revisited.
