C&L's Late Night Music Club with Marian Anderson
As we watch history unfolding before our eyes, one more anniversary: It was almost seventy years ago, on Easter Sunday in 1939, that more than 75,000 people come to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., to hear famed African-American contralto Marian Anderson give a free open-air concert.
Anderson had been scheduled to sing at Washington's Constitution Hall, but the Daughters of the American Revolution, a political organization that helped manage the concert hall, denied her the right to perform because of her race. The first lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, resigned her membership from the organization in protest, and Anderson's alternate performance at the Lincoln Memorial served greatly to raise awareness of the problem of racial discrimination in America.

in order to include the Rev. Robinson. But they would have had to cut another 3:15 still to fit him in.

I have as yet not been able to get why what actually transpired did actually transpire and/or who ultimately made the decision based upon that. Until I do, I’m going to be VERY concerned, especially in light of the fact that he chose that right-wing, conservative Evangelical from Thousand Oaks for the invocation supposedly based upon the desire for inclusion and dialog, and most of us who have been targets of this guy were (or, seemed to be anyway) willing to take that explanation at face value and go along with it. However, IF it turns our that we were excluded at the same time, that won’t hold water AND paints a VERY daunting and disturbing picture. I’m withholding/reserving judgment until the truth can be ascertained satisfactorily. Love, Jay

Good luck America, and best wishes to C&L under a progressive presidency (though I suspect it won't be as progressive as many hope).
