C&L's Late Night Music Club with Nina Simone

Title: House of the Rising Son
Artist: Nina Simone

Nothing worked out right today. Here at the center of the political universe we got, oh, let's say nine yards of snow. Couldn't get within cheatin' distance of anyplace I needed to go. Got my workout at the business end of a shovel and then met some new folks as we formed impromptu vehicular bobsled teams, pushing cars out of drifts, and then watching them go a-swooning down the snowgutter streets.

Meanwhile, the best full moon of the year stayed clamped shut behind endless miles of uniform gray prison clouds.

I needed sun. Heat. Sin.

And then I remembered Nina.

Ms Simone's music is perfect for chasing those snow blues away. Such a voice!

ps, I'm counting down the minutes until I can vote for you again. In the meantime, I'm gonna go outside and behold the full moon in its glory!

Back in a moment.

Next time you put up some Simone, you ought to try Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues or I Shall Be Released , by Dylan, Or Suzanne by Leonard Cohen. She covered all of them better than anybody IMO.

Nina's I put a spell on you. Great and thank you.

Me likey. Oh yeah, baby!

I love me some Nina Simone. Thanks.

And may you get all three (as you've already got Ms. Simone) soon!

Ne me quitte pas!

Nothing like Africa's lack of electricity to enhance the beauty of the heavens. As for snow, up in the mountains. Here it is between the mid 60's (at night) and the mid 80's (day) all year round.
