The Shaggs are super awesome -- they had no sense of rhythm, pitch, melody...any of the things that you are expected to have when you make music, but they didn't let that stop them from making this album. The song "My Pal Foot Foot" may be the worst song ever recorded that wasn't meant to be be bad....and I LOVE it. Still far more honest than most of the stuff that's being put out by the music "industry".
we've featured the shaggs @ skippy last year. here's my pal foot foot.
the shaggs had a lot going for them, if by "a lot," i mean, "the desire to express themselves thru music and nothing else whatsoever."
but there's a lot to be said for the desire to express one's self thru music. just not this.
meanwhile, for tonite's music club, we present the bonzo dog doo dah band (you saw them in magical mystery tour, and some of them in the rutles) doing monster mash.
(Music is too important to be left strictly to quote unquote musicians.)
To be fair, I don't think that a lot of what I hear on the radios around me today is made by your quote unquote musicians, just people who know their way around Pro Tools who also happen to have an uncanny knack for cutting and pasting really annoying sounds that some people find catchy.
Good song, not better than the Beatles.
