C&L's Late Night Music Club With Fleet Foxes

Title: Blue Ridge Mountains
Artist: Fleet Foxes

I caught Fleet Foxes on SNL a short while back and was blown away by this song and the group. The band characterizes their type of music as “baroque harmonic pop jams," and it seems to fit perfectly.

What a pretty song. You have selected a musical treat tonight, Logan!

Thanks calgarylady. It is a great song and these guys are very talented.

Fleet Foxes are fantastic. I first heard about them when I read a review that described them as The Beach Boys meets CSNY. Of course, I thought that had to be absurd, but I decided to check them out anyway, just in case.

Check out the video for, "White Winter Hymnal," on YouTube - it fits the mood of the song and the album as a whole perfectly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrQRS40OKNE

I've been listening to Fleet Foxes nearly every day since I got the album. They're second only to Bon Iver, in that regard.

I enjoyed those very much too!

Check this out - it's a vocals-only track from Pet Sounds. Breaks my heart all over again every time:

This is my current second favourite Bon Iver song (after the title track I linked to above), "Blindsided."

I really can't recommend Fleet Foxes & Bon Iver highly enough. I love every single song on both albums & that NEVER happens to me.

I liked the video to the Bon Iver song too ... lovely images to go along with the music.

And, of course, nobody could sing like The Beach Boys!

Thanks again. Very nice indeed.

that Blindsided song is exquisite! Thanks for sharing this... it's not one of my favs too.

fleet foxes are one of the coolest new bands to break out, we just listened to 'em the other day at work.

excellent harmonies...

Thanks, BeeSting!

I just wanted to share how happy I am that M.I.A. is finally getting some national attention. If it was attention for being the crazy pregnant lady at the Grammy's then so be it, but hopefully more people will listen to her stuff as a result. This is one of my favorites off of Kala: Hussel.

Love her so much. That song rocks. Think I'm gonna dance now.

Dirty beats are the best for dancing! I'm glad there's another fan around here, Sphinx! This will also get you dancing: Sunshowers

I don't know if you'll ever see this since I'm posting so late but LOVE IT. Work out to this. :) :)

Hiya, kid!

It's a Virginia thang!

I'm just blown away by this. Thanks so much for playing some new music on here. I've been listening to Bon Iver and Smog all day and this kind of fits nicely with that vibe.

Kudos. Keep up the pimping of new stuff. I love the oldies, but there are soooo many great bands out there right now.

I love hearing new music. Especially when it is great stuff like this.

Time for me to call it a night. Thanks, all!

KCRW out here in L.A. plays them fairly often - they've got some good stuff.

I went to a Fleet Foxes concert a couple of weeks ago. My friend didn't want to go alone and, even though I didn't know who they were, I tagged along because I know he's got a pretty good taste in music. The drummer of the band, J. Tillman, opened the show with a set of acoustic songs (although some band members later joined him to provide back-up).

They're a really fun group. The music is so mellow and sweet-sounding; it's like the perfect music if you're having a bad day.

wow!

Love that song and what a great video. Thanks!

Here's another one you might like. I love the words.

Those are two great songs to start the day, and I thank you :)

and you haven't been listening to Midlake then you're really missing out. I REALLY wish these guys would put out a new album or tour or something! They're fantastic. Here's a couple tunes:
