Title: Dry

William Elliott Whitmore, from Lee County Iowa, has earned a dedicated following by touring with loud, heavy acts like Converge and Clutch. If you think metalheads only like it fast and loud, think again. A deserving representative of Iowa's musical mantle, indeed.

Every Monday night, C&L's Late Nite Music Club will feature an act from every state, alphabetically by state, as part of LNMC's 50 State Strategy. Know a band or artist that you think is the best in their state? Email suggestions to latenitemusicclub [at] gmail.com. Next week: Kansas.

Sweet video. I love how it begins with the metronome and the kid at the piano ... ah, the memories of piano lessons when I was that age and my crabby music teacher!

I really like this song, Max.

William Elliott Whitmore is very talented. Way to go, Iowa!

Excellent choice!!
Here's one for our UK friends, that wonderful Sceptered Isle!
Rites and Rituals, including the great voice of Eliza Carthy, opening the vid and returning to her at the 10:10 point!

People and their crazy traditions and rituals! Interesting film.

Eliza's lovely voice reminds me Carly Simon.

I like a change up as much as the nxt baseball fan, again but don't you think this would blend better w/ Lucinda Williams or the Indigo Girls or Iris Dement. I just can't see it as an opening act for for a bunch of metal heads.

I'm floored. That's freaking great. Had to pull up the wikipedia on Whitmore. Saw a quick note that he toured with City and Colour. Those must have been some amazing shows. Great pick tonight Max.

Yeah, I only know about him cos of metal and hardcore bands (namely Clutch, who aren't exactly either, but you get the point.) That scene embraced him, and I guess the early bird gets the worm!

The Artist link doesn't work. You're missing an "L" in williamelliotwhitmore.com tag.

thanks, grs

And this song is just out of this world. William Elliot Whitmore - Mutiny Are you kidding me? Good, good stuff.

From Whole Wheat Bread to Oh My God to William Elliot Whitmore; 50 States has quickly become my favorite feature on LNMC.

Consistently outstanding! Thanks very much.

I figure out how to post a link ( yea kinda dumb ) at that point expect some sounds . Been involved in music my whole life ( since about 1953 , born in 47 ) hell i remember beatnicks and bongos ( kind of remembers bongs too ) its always great to hear such great talent , this is why i suppourt the arts perharps ( haps ) some day they will set us free . Music ( and the arts ) is beyond explantion , as children our mothers sing to us , as we grow older we listen to music that moves us , and when we die people ( no parent should have too bury their child ) sing over us .

I love this man. I heard abou him through some friends then saw him at Bottom Of The Hill in San Francisco and my life hasn't been the same since.

The old days are gone
the time goes so fast
Like the cars of a train
watch 'em go past

The feelin's still here
and it won't leave me be
I didn't waste no time
time wasted me

The chariot swung low and sweet
but it could not carry me home
The circle was broke before I could speak
and now all my faith is gone
