C&L's Late Nite Music Club with Nanci Griffith (Live Chat on Thursday!)
By MaxMarginal Saturday May 16, 2009 7:00pmThe Late Nite Music Club is proud to welcome folk/country legend Nanci Griffith this coming Thursday, May 21st at 4pm Pacific/7pm Eastern for a live chat. She'll be taking questions about her 30+ year career and her new album The Loving Kind, which comes out June 9th on Rounder Records.
The album, Griffith's most politically outspoken record in years, if not ever, is named for Richard and Mildred Loving, the plaintiffs in Loving v. Virginia, the 1967 civil rights case which finally ended the ban on interracial marriages once and for all. Mrs. Loving issued a statement before her death last year expressing her hope that soon, same-sex couples would follow in her and her late husband's footsteps to victory in their battle for marriage equality.
Music Club O.G. Howie Klein will be moderating the chat. He put together this clip for 'Across America' from The Loving Kind.

The concept of legal same-sex unions and equality for all human beings, no matter their sexual orientation, is long overdue.
Thank you, Nanci, Howie and Max for your efforts regarding this important issue.
Major kudos to Richard and Mildred Loving for leading the way.
I like this a lot! I haven't followed Nancy much since the late '80s, I had quite the crush on her for a while there, but got to see her perform a lot in and around Austin. This is good stuff. Good on you Ms. Griffith!!
Harlan Howard's , "Never Mind", she always get first crack at good songs, does a great version and some one else gets the hit. great flattery though, song writers pick her first.

Lovely voice, great humor... I used to listen to her albums a lot, particularly the live One Fair Summer Evening and the cover album Other Voices/Other Rooms. The funny thing, as in odd, is that I stopped listening to her mostly due to my lack of having acquired mp3 files of hers to play on my pc. I'm going to dust off my CDs...I'm looking forward to the chat.
Could anyone please explain how the 'live chat' thing actually works? Will there be a link or box on the day/broadcast? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.
