A couple months ago I wrote on this page about Varg Vikernes, aka Count Grishnackh of Norwegian black metal legends Burzum, being released from prison. There have been rumors of a film version of Lords of Chaos, the definitive account of Grishnackh's murder of Øystein Aarseth (aka Euronymous) of the band Mayhem, the ritual burnings of historic Norwegian churches, and the subculture surrounding Scandanavia's bizarro-world gansta rap from the golden age of Black Metal. Finally, it looks like the project has a green light.

According to Blabbermouth (who incorrectly states that Grishnackh is still in prison), Twilight megastar Jackson Rathbone has signed on to play The Count.

After the runaway success of heavy metal flicks like Anvil: the Story of Anvil and Some Kind of Monster, this film, backed by a truly fascinating plot and some of the fastest, most intense music ever to grace the Rock aisle (Amoeba Music has its own Black Metal section) has a real shot, especially with a star on board.

What I'd really like to know is how does Grishnackh, a man who called Venom sellouts, feel about being played by a teen heartthrob? We await an official statement.
