I love the Who, but this is one rare instance where the Grammys got it 100% right.

Adele is breathtaking.

and I'll keep not listening for now. I'm sure she's great. In the meantime, here are a couple of chanteuses

Don't particularly understand your reluctance, but I have to tell you that "21" is an amazing album. Her voice is mature, clear, full of emotion and she was...TWENTY ONE when she recorded it. A voice that sounds like it's had decades of practice and pain behind it out of someone so young.

I got goosebumps the first time I heard it and I got goosebumps listening to her perform this again at the Grammys. I thought it was great that Scarce got this video for us for the LNMC.

...I sorta like this song, but every time I hear it I can't help but thinking that it's nice to hear Annie Lennox again, but she's lost some of her range.

I've heard that little bit they play whenever her name is mentioned--I think it's just a bar or so of the tune. I still haven't sat down and given Springsteen a try either. When he first started and they were hyping up his connection to Dylan through John Hammond, I thought not interested. If I'd seen the Benny Goodman Story, I'dve known who John Hammond was and maybe dismissed the Dylan thing.

I just really like the weirdos of music is all. I like crooners, but give me some Avant Garde jazz or AG classical or foreign people we never get to see, and I'm happy as Larry.

That said, enjoy!!!
John Zorn - Broadway Blues
Ben Weber, Conductor Gerhard Samuel - Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, ii. Andante con rubato
Le Monde Fabuleux Des Yamasuki - Aieaoa
Cujo - Cat People

and I definitely enjoyed those songs.

Thanks miss_kitty :)

What's the deal with Chris Brown on the Grammys? Beat up the girl friend? I guess the that crowd, it's ok to south beach slap somebody around sometimes. Street cred.

If not now, when?

I found that highly disturbing.

I'm all for forgiveness, but it's clear that arrogant punk hasn't learned his lesson. He was acting like a jerk on his Twitter feed last year and spouting homophobic nonsense.

Not to mention that some things are so vile that you just can't come back from, and beating a women to near-death is one of them.

I feel like one of those Japanese soldiers on an atoll who was never informed that WWII ended...I knew OF Adele, of course, but hadn't bothered checking her music out.

And wow...she is INCREDIBLE...I can't stop watching her Grammy performance over and over. What a beautiful, poised young woman.

watch award shows, especially in the last few years, seeing as they're all about how everyone looks & 'who they're wearing'...total bs.
However, I do watch the Grammies the odd time...because I love music, hoping I'll get to see/hear something of substance, despite all the rest of the crap.
Finally...someone with talent, who has a fabulous voice & who chooses fabulous songs...and who doesn't need dancers, props & bright shiny things because their talent speaks on its own.
Good for you Adele...so well deserved.

Watching the Grammys the other night, it was obvious that any of the other artist who were in the same category as Adele clearly knew who the grammy was going to go to even when matched up against the likes of Mumford & Sons & Bon Avir, & they both those bands released amazing critically acclaimed albums this year & they all knew Adele's masterpiece was much more deserving of the grammy than theirs.... Adele is amazing, Such Power & Such Grace... the album 21 is amazing start to finish... & she is proud of who she is what she looks like, truly an inspirational woman!!

Surprisingly, 2011 was a pretty good year for music... Music kinda got back to its roots... the blues... alot of good stuff out there!!

shaggles's picture

Meh. What's so great about Adele? Every year or two there's some new British r n' b singer that people get all exited about. Joss Stone, Duffy, Amy Winehouse, Adele. There'll be another one in a year or two and Adele will be forgotten.

The army of producers and songwriters who manufactured Adele will move on to another "talent." The music industry is just like politics. Whoever gets the machinery behind them rises to the top...for a while, anyway.

I thought that I was the only one who thought Adele was a fade and isn't impressed by her.
What has led to her success will lead to her popular demise...that and the fact that she doesn't take good care of her voice.

She's still pretty good. As are/were those other ladies.
Love the hair, BTW.
