C&L's Late Nite Music Club with Miriam Makeba

Title: The Click Song

The Click Song

I've always loved international music, thanks to my parents and this is one of the first artists I was introduced to as a little girl.

RIP, Mama Afrika. South Africa may not have let you return, but the angels have called you home.

RIP

MOMMA AFRICA

But I prefer to understand the lyrics :)

What I'm thinking about as I build different worlds behind my computer screen.

Balinese Monkey Chant

I first heard the Ramayana Monkey Chant in 1970 on the Robert Garfias program on KRAB FM. It took decades for me to find it again. Thank teh FSM for teh Internets.

she was. That is such a beautiful song. RIP, Miriam.

I hadn't heard of her before. The music is gorgeous. Her life was amazing.

from 1967. I just didn't know the name of it.

Paul Simon was a perfect singing partner for Miriam. That was a musical match made in heaven. Thanks, lafingas, for those great tunes.

You have to be the singularly most polite poster I've ever seen in addition to having such appreciation for all types of music, that I have to doff my hat to you.

Kudos for your kindness and clearly taking the time to actually look at everybody's posts.

I don't come around that much but I just had to say. You are really sweet.

I don't know what to say, except that I am blushing right now.

Well, if you are blushing, I am too. I used to post here a lot and fell on hard times but I've been reading your coolness that you display with such lovely etiquette that it could only come from a Canadian or European.

Now that might piss certain people off but the truth is, that after having lived in Europe for quite awhile and being eventually informed to "shut it" as an American while traveling and living daily life due to massive resentment..I got this notice/advice (by the American state department, have the letter)...

I really think the world of old school politeness is so solid even though I'm generally fitting all the stereo-types of the loud American during my experience..but I learned in increments. ;)

SO:

CalgaryLady: You rock. Simply put and seriously.

for your kind and beautiful words. They mean so very much to me.

Where do you come up with these obscure clips, lafingas?

It's like a long-lost Memory Lane of Melodies that has been newly discovered. I appreciate it very much.

Thank you, sphinx, for your fine company this evening. I enjoyed myself very much. Adieu for now.

I come from a musical family, music is the part of my life I couldn't do without!

I grew up around music too. Like you, I am thankful for that.

Time for zeds now. Thanks again for all the fun tonight. Sleep well, everyone.
