He spent a good part of his career living in New York, busking on the streets. When he wasn't making his living as a street musician, he would be inventing instruments or making his own clothing and changing his physical appearance to better resemble Odin. His fascination with Scandinavian-Germanic culture led him to move to Germany later on in his life, where he would continue his career by recording and touring his original compositions all around Europe. Whether in the U.S. or Europe, Moondog was talented enough to fully orchestrate his pieces and get them recorded by a full symphony orchestra, which isn't a very common achievement of many street musicians.
