C&L's Late Night Music Club with Phillip Morris
Phillip Morris is another talented Chicago rapper who is on the verge of becoming ridiculously successful.
Take a few minutes, give him a listen, and tell your friends one day: "Morris? Sheee. I knew him back in the 'Instrumentality' days. Dude still owes me money." (h/t Matthew Filipowicz for passing me the Phillip Morris digit.)

That guy is hilarious. But he makes some poignant points in his rappin.
Yeah, me likey.:)
Oh yeah, FOIST!!!
What is your conceptual, continuity?
The Magic Number
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
and here's something brand nubian, from the 1990
Brand Nubian-All for One
me-oww!
Basketball
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
Gang Starr - Words I Manifest
me-oww!
Let It All Hang Out (Weapons Division remix)
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
It's rap music tonight.
it's really great stuff.
me-oww!
I dunno .....
:)
If that doesn't work, try this. :)
What is your conceptual, continuity?
OK, I'm warming up to this rap thing now ... :)
Flying On The Ground Is Wrong (live at Carnegie Hall, December, 1970)
Since you mentioned it earlier this week, calgarylady, I've seen that PBS feature on Neil three times. It's great! So says my kid, too.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
I've never heard that song before.
I only saw part of the PBS special and would love to see it in its entirety. They only have a preview tape available on their website. I hope they rebroadcast it.
I really liked the part about Devo thinking that Neil was just another old rock guy, then being awed by him and making legendary music together. Also interesting was Nils Lofgren talking about the making of Trans, which is one of my all-time Neil Young faves.
ps, call me 'cal' if you want, 'calgarylady' is so formal ;)
... I have my doubts about Morris becoming "ridiculously successful."
Confusing this with the opening to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air
is intended to be a factual statement
doesnt seem that good to me...
Anyone can rhyme if you give them some time, a piece a paper and a life full of haters. It's the beats that matter, the floor beneath your feet will shatter - if the bass is bumping you might well be on to something.... that's all I'm saying
Mos Def - "Quiet Dog" on Letterman 6/8
me-oww!
I thought I was going to see the Phillip Morris that played Jackie Chiles in 'Seinfeld'.
Mos Def and Phillip Morris may, hopefully, be bringing the second coming of Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop has hardly been worth a damn, with a few brilliant exceptions, since the late nineties.
Yet so many people listen to it and have no idea that half the melodies came from another time, another musician... another song. It's like some people feel obligated to listen to it so that they'll be in the `in` crowd... and then, of course, the `artists` get HUGE egos (cough, kanye west) and think the world should bow down.
I haven't liked much rap since No Way Out by p diddy and the family. Well I did like Big Pun and the terror squad.
Not much grit...
Make no motto of love that worships war
That was pretty cool.
He wrote this song a couple years ago when Ed and Elaine Brown refused to file tax returns...

Phillip Morris is cool! show them the law!
audit-prosecute-incarcerate
one more reason to ignore him.
A boring, predictable, tired genre.
The tobacco company?
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
Threads like this are funny.
I'm no big fan of dinosaur arena rock bands like Rush
There's a front page story in the DMN today with a huge picture about the no-talent Jonas brothers
And then there are bands I never heard of
So I'm not sure what it is I'm looking for on threads like this.
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
Real hip-hop is BACK.
Tell Soulja-Toy to please close the door on the way out.
THX
BYE
