I'll never forget tooling around Louisville when I was six years old, my dad blasting his Mighty Clouds Of Joy cassette in our navy blue Cutlass.I was obsessed with this song and wondered who the man was that could hit high notes like that. Now I know that his name was Paul Beasley and I am still just as blown away with his singing as I was as a wide-eyed first grader. Check out this clip from the 1981 Montreux Jazz Festival.
