C&L's Late Night Music Club With Tom Waits
Happy Saturday! Tom Waits will tell you about it.
There's more music at our sister site, Newstalgia: a live concert recording of Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Live from Finsbury Park, London - 1992.
What are you listening to tonight?

Louis Jordan.
Sam Cooke.
Glenn Miller.

Quirky and unique.
"I am going to Chicago baby! And I am driving stick!" Loved that scene for some reason.
CTHULHU 2012 "Why vote for a lesser evil?"
Always been one of my favorites songs as done by Tom Waits. Written by Jerry Jeff Walker if I'm not mistaken?

Can't remember who here turned me on to this version, but major props. This version-- despite being dialed way back from the "Vacation" soundtrack-- still always leaves me warm inside for some reason.

My mom and I had such a great time during her visit. We drove all over southern Alberta. The colours were amazing - brilliant yellow canola fields, the beautiful green trees and blue/black skies. Gorgeous!
Yes, dn, I'm having trouble sleeping ;)
trouble sleeping that is , have not been for drive in a while , i live in the NW ( north of Seattle ) the trees have not changed colors yet , i like going for drives on the rivers , and just hanging out , some times even a little fishing , miss Alaska funny as much as i like people i dont want to be around people , guess that makes me a hypocrite so be it . Whats not funny CL is how much i like you , i just really like you . You bring out the human in me for that i owe you big time .

and you think the future of kids is important, you should get behind this organization. They held the FIRST Girls Rock Showcase in Indianapolis this weekend and it was one of the greatest things I've ever seen for kids.

It's NOT School of Rock. It's way beyond that.
That picture looks like one that I took at a late '70's Tom Waits concert in Pittsburgh, but the voice seems to be from a later period. He's an icon and this is one of his best.
Coincidentally, we just played a Waits song on our Sunday night folk show, Progressive Roots, last week. To celebrate National Ice Cream Day, we played 'Ice Cream Man' from 'The Early Tom Waits'. The version from 'Closing Time' is stashed away with our LPs.
