C&L's Late Nite Music Club: The 50 State Strategy with Rebecca Schiffman (NY)
By MaxMarginal Monday Nov 09, 2009 8:00pmA wispy voiced girl can't swing a guitar around New York City without getting compared to Cat Power, as Rebecca Schiffman inevitably does by anyone who doesn't get that her whimsical tunes are way more fun. "The Rabbit Habit" belongs in the canon of great songs of a certain subject matter like "Pump It Up", "She-Bop" and "Longview". You know what I'm talking about.
LNMC's 50 State Strategy is C&L's ongoing series to showcase a top act from every state in the union, alphabetically by state. Know a band or artist that you think is the best in their state? Email suggestions to latenitemusicclub [at] gmail.com. Next up: North Carolina.

sounds more like Kimya Dawson from The Moldy Peaches to me. Also, check out her website. Her artwork is beautiful.
Rebecca Schiffman is very talented. Great video!
I really disliked that strongly. I'll leave it at that.
maybe the madcap laughs?
Quite a few people on anti-depressants and mood stabilizers, etc. do complain of the blunted affect they cause. This song does capture that. I'm kinda sitting here feeling apathetic just listening to it -- I guess that's good, right? She gets the message across.
As far as the common thread of which you write -- I'm guessing it's something along the lines of "Dancing With Myself" and "Turning Japanese". Did I get it?
pay special attention to the video at about 2:40. Very interesting!
Sorry - it's "canon", unless you are going to stuff said songs into a tube and shoot them at someone.
getting naked in a video is perhaps a good indication that the talent is ... Marginal ... ?
