Late Night Music Club with Naturally 7
By Mike Finnigan Tuesday Nov 24, 2009 8:00pmAs Naturally 7 describes it, a capella music is voice without instruments. They are performing what they call "vocal play," where they use their voices to become the instruments. The music, which is amazing, starts at the 1:26 mark.

... it hit me hard for some reason (other than the obvious)
he fought so hard in rehab after the accident, and it just seems so cruel ... I dunno...ya know?
but he put out an album in 2006? that was really great..mySOUL?
Really soulful covers of Blue Rodeo, Radiohead, Guess Who ... brilliant.

(Still processing but it will get a lot clearer soon)
The Mills Brothers were doing vocal play in the 1930's.
If I want to hear a voice-centered group that emulates instruments, I'll listen to Manhattan Transfer. In the second video from 2008, their voices may have dropped notes as they've aged, but they still sound great.

thanks for sharing this! I'm sending it on to my daughter, she'll love it.
I also enjoyed the ba-ba-da music Burt Bacharach did for Butch Cassidy soundtrack. A little more "whitebread" than this, but enjoyable. :)
Thanks again!
Think I'm in love.
A capella, live, will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up and give you cold chills. Once, some young black guys practicing outside a burger joint in downtown Jacksonville, long past the age of doo-wop, but trying out their Dells chops...or a white gospel quartet practicing behind a barn bluegrass show in the Okefenokee...or waiting tables, just after college, during the Barbershop Harmony convention, and they do like to break out in song during meals.
Old Manhattan Transfer is fine, but try the Double Six of Paris...or Take Six...or any of the black doo-wop greats.
Happy Thanksgiving, C&L crew!
