C&L's Late Nite Music Club with James Morrison

Title: Call The Police

I'm a big fan of the show, Dexter. And when I first heard this song on James Morrison's debut album, Undiscovered, I immediately thought of the show and how this song was a perfect soundtrack to the show. The insistent bass line and rising and frenetic strains in my mind really encapsulate the strangely poignant story of a sociopathic serial killer trying to keep this disturbing and dark side from being discovered by his family and co-workers.

So I ask my fellow C&Lers: What song would you pick for the soundtrack to your favorite show and/or movie?

It's great that we have a new Jim Morrison in the music scene...
Break on through Jimbo!

Walk Between the Raindrops instead of the WHO for "CSI MIAMI"

I love the bass line!

I love anything by Steely Dan! Thanks, dondiago :)

Theme Song: They're Coming to Take Me Away (Ha, Ha)

James Morrison and his music rocks!

have to say I'm digging these two a lot the past week or two. This is an entertaining video and it got me at the end:

Matt and Kim - Lessons Learned

Yes

That is a very, very entertaining video, grs!

:)

That's what I call decent exposure.

so I can't really think of any that I'd re-track. And I care little for new shows that use hit songs of my youth ("Won't Get Fooled Again") as soundtracks; at least those artists will get a royalty check, I guess.

That being said, some of the best movie soundtracks, IMHO, have been done by Ry Cooder.

Nicole--love your stuff.

Both 'the show' and 'Morrison's debut album' are restrictive, so no comma. That means (among other things) that they limit what follows if the writer chooses to give more information. (if you'd said 'a show' or 'an album' it's nonrestrictive--it could be any show, it could be any album--so the commas stay.)

Not sure why, but it's a common impulse to put that comma in.

I'm a big fan of the show Dexter. And when I first heard this song on James Morrison's debut album Undiscovered, I immediately thought of...

Without the comma the first sentence feels a little odd, abrupt. Same reason. We need to reduce the possibility of confusion with another show called Dexter. It's less of a problem in the second sentence, but still wrong. There may be more than one album called 'Undiscovered' and it may also be a debut album; but there are not two of those by the same guy. Also the album title is hyperlinked which creates a visual distinction--I guess that's a new mechanics.

I love grammar and punctuation tips. Never having been taught in school, I've been self-teaching myself online.

mrthoth has a GREAT series of videos on YouTube: a "bible" of grammar and easy to follow!!! He's a gem!!

Here's his vid on rest./non-rest and commas.

(From minute 4 for the above example)

Ozzy Osbourne's "I Don't Know." A 100% perfect match ... who would have thought these two were on exactly the same page on an issue?

For the awesome movie CRANK,I would go with "I Drive Like Steve McQueen" by The Mag Seven

Hell on Earth - My personal sitcom
Based in Central PA

A young skilled intelligent man growing up in a sea of inbred sub humans, unable to get ahead or get an education in a Backwards town called Hell, PA.
His name is Matt the Looser. Opportunity is available for only the rich and a chosen few. Matt got to watch the ignorant fumble and fail, while being rewarded, with education grants and business loans. It is funny watching Matt being left behind to make room for the rich chosen family's offspring.
Watch Matt and the Looser family being set up and over charged, while the chosen familys get left go and a free ride. Watch Matt work for minimum wage, while the lesser get paid 4 times as much to do almost nothing. Watch Matt's life be destroyed by sub-human rich familys. Watch Matt's town and country go threw an economic collapse caused by the sub-human chosen few. Watch Matt scorned and exiled from the town for trying to warn the people of the coming collapse.

It is a very interesting series, not too many have seen the show but every one has lived the life.
