Late Night Music Club with Susan Tedeschi
By Susie Madrak Wednesday Oct 14, 2009 7:00pmIn 2004, Tedeschi was featured on the PBS show, Austin City Limits, flanked by William Green, on Hammond organ, Jason Crosby, playing keyboards, violin, and vocals, bassist Ron Perry, and Jeff Sipe, on drums. The performance was extremely well received.[4] In the same year, Tedeschi turned a few heads when she was listed by Peter Gammons of ESPN in his list of "all time top 20 favorite albums." She came in at a respectable #15 for her album, Just Won't Burn. Not to be outdone, husband Derek Trucks also made the list, at #9 for Joyful Noise, both surprising accomplishments, given that both artists play blues, a genre often overlooked. In addition, the other musicians on the list were some of rock's elite, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Little Feat, and Jackson Browne, to name a few.

My favorite take of this song is by Tracy Nelson that had a group called "Mother Earth" but I can't find it so I'll post another.

She sings well enough but she should hire a guitar player to play lead.
This video may not do her justice, but Tedeschi is an excellent blues guitarist.
Am I the only one that thinks the new Cisco ad sounds like this:

If so, I hope the Bolan estate is getting royalties.

That said, looks like they've got other ads to popular songs, and the new ad features a bunch of Chinese school kids, so I'm guessing that they know what they're doing with the music.

Thank you for posting that Wikipedia excerpt; it might be one of the most unintentionally hilarious things I've ever read.
Seriously, what's more funny - the fact that anyone gives a shit about what Peter Gammons thinks about music or that an actual musician would consider it a compliment when a geriatric Northeastern sportswriter gave her band some props in his entirely irrelevant Top 20 best albums list?
Next week: Peter Gammons reveals to us his top 15 favorite pastries! Hopefully some obscure pastry chef gets lucky enough to get the Gammons seal of approval and see her career explode overnight!
...that Gammons will be guest hosting Bill Walton's Grateful Dead-themed show on Sirius. Gawd, that's something I'd avoid like a plague. And it ain't the music that turns me off.
Nothing Takes The Place Of You
Thank you, Andy :)
Ever seen the original Hairspray? The one from the '80s, directed by John Waters, starring Rikki Lake? It's used in that film.
No, I haven't seen the film, but I like John Waters' stuff.
He's always original!

Sorry I'm so late to the LNMC. I've been sleeping lots today (fighting a headcold).
Thanks for the tune.
Susan Tedeschi had a terrific duet with Robben Ford on his disc "Truth" a couple of years back. I mention that album because it has an absolutely gorgeous and genuinely poignant anti-war protest song, "Peace On My Mind," which manages to be effective without being preachy. Plus, of course, Robben's typically terrific playing.
Oh, and his tribute to B.B. "Riley B. King," is a wonderful little slice of contemporary soul. I didn't know anybody made music like that anymore.
Saw her with The Dead she did a beautiful rendition of Sugaree.
