Aphex Twin is the moniker of Richard D. James, an Irish-born electronic musician from England. He's known for his wide array of experimental works, with this one being no exception. What sounds like a simple, yet elegant piano piece, is actually quite complex and actually impossible for a human to play on a single piano. Many of the voicings in the harmony cross over one another and span a range that is too far for human hands to reach. The recording of this piece was accomplished by running MIDI sequencers through a Yamaha Disklavier, an electronic successor to the player piano. Pretty experimental stuff if you ask me; people can't even play it!

Listening to anything experimental tonight?
