Mike "HuckaJesus" spent some time Sunday stoking the fear fires so Americans could have more hatred toward Palestinians than they already do. After assuring the audience that Israel was just the opening course, and warning that the US was the main course for Palestinians' appetites for death, he went on to say this:

Huckabee said that Palestinians wouldn’t haven’t have died “if Hamas didn’t insist on acting like vicious, mad dogs intent on making mayhem."

Like it or not, Hamas is the elected government of the Palestinian people. They were elected by the people and we're supposed to respect democratic elections, right? So when Fox says their government is behaving like "vicious mad dogs," there's no separation there between the governed and their government, such as it is. By extension, Huckabee has just extended his indictment to each and every Palestinian living in Gaza.

Is that really helpful on any level? After all, the pictures I'm seeing are of dead Palestinian children on the ground. Israelis seem to be able to keep their children from harm. The pictures of poor people fleeing Gaza, of their children being felled by missiles, and their fear is heartbreaking, regardless of what "side" anyone takes.

There couldn't be a more powerful formula for radicalizing a few more generations of Arabs than killing their children. How would we react in similar circumstances?

Why is it not possible for both of these groups to find a way to live in peace? For my entire lifetime, it's been one hatefest after another, punctuated by periods of quiet. And for some reason, these things always seem to blow up just in time to become a wedge in American elections. Huckabee's exploitation of the situation for his own political pompous asshattery is just one more example.

His question at the very end is so very typical of Fox News. After warning viewers that the United States is next, Huckabee asks whether we will stand with the terrorist organization Hamas or Israel.

As if he expects any other answer than one. Please.
