A NY doctor tests positive for Ebola, and President Obama still attends a fundraiser! The Right forgets Perry's notable absence while Dallas was in crisis.
October 24, 2014

The first patient in the New York Metropolitan Area has tested positive for the Ebola virus, an inevitability in our global society. A travel ban from the afflicted West African nations is not recommended by anyone except Republican hacks looking to exploit the fear of a public whom they've irresponsibly misinformed. So a very well-prepared and well-informed New York medical community has, thus far, dealt with their first Ebola patient with the professional standards recommended by the CDC. The patient, Dr. Spencer, did go bowling with a low grade fever. This was the only misstep, but this is certainly not the fault of the New York medical community or the president.

Breitbart, in typical fashion, bashed President Obama for attending a fundraiser on the very same day the unfortunate news was reported about Dr. Craig Spencer. While gallivanting across Europe to establish his foreign policy bona fides, Governor Rick Perry was curiously absent from the State of Texas. Unlike New York City, Dallas was lacking in safety equipment and proper training for health care-providers. Thomas Eric Duncan died as a result of a missed diagnosis while the two nurses who contracted the disease from Duncan are recovering nicely. Since the ER is the only care available to millions of uninsured Texans, the over-capacity hospital may have been better equipped to deal with this deadly virus.

Congress has stubbornly prevented Obama's nomination for the vital cabinet position of Surgeon General, so there is no "medical expert" in charge of this overblown Ebola "crisis." Of course, he's been panned for his nomination of very competent administrative guru, Ronald Klain, as Ebola Czar because he isn't a medical doctor. Dr. Vivek Murthy, the president's choice for the vacant post, is a highly qualified, brilliant doctor, but he is unacceptable to a GOP bought and paid for by the NRA. How dare he state the truth about the health risks posed by gun ownership!

Not one competent medical professional would fault President Obama for continuing his plans when a qualified hospital is dealing with a new Ebola case. He is the president, not a doctor, and unlike Governor "Oops," he heeds the advice of the medical authorities in the CDC. This shows we need more good government, not a Libertarian Utopia.
