Ben Carson was given an opportunity to rip into Ted Cruz for the dirty tricks Cruz played on Carson in Iowa.

After paying homage to Saint Ronnie and promising to abide by the 11th Republican commandment -- Thou shalt not speak ill of any other Republican -- Carson proceeded to shame Ted Cruz and his staff in a pretty effective manner.

Here's the transcript, but the video is better.

But I will say — I will say — I will say that I was very disappointed that members of his team thought so little of me that they thought that after having hundreds, if not thousands of volunteers and college students who sacrificed their time and were dedicated to the cause — one even died — to think that I would just walk away ten minutes before the caucus and say, “Forget about you guys.”

I mean, who would do something like that? Now, I don’t think anyone on this stage would do something like that. And to assume that someone would, what does that tell you? So, unfortunately, it did happen.

It gives us a very good example of certain types of Washington ethics. Washington ethics. Washington ethics basically says, if it’s legal, you do what you need to do in order to win. That’s not my ethics. My ethics is, you do what’s right.

And I suppose it could be argued that the last part of that speech is why he's not winning. I didn't include Cruz's response in the clip, but it was the usual nonsense blaming it all on CNN.

To which CNN calls BS:

Cruz also claimed CNN had inaccurately reported that Carson was suspending his campaign "from 6:30 p.m. to 9:15," and "didn't correct that story until 9:15 that night."

In a statement out Saturday night, CNN responded, "What Senator Cruz said tonight in the debate is categorically false. CNN never corrected its reporting because CNN never had anything to correct. The Cruz campaign's actions the night of the Iowa caucuses had nothing to do with CNN's reporting. The fact that Senator Cruz continues to knowingly mislead the voters about this is astonishing."

Not at all astonishing to me. It's what Ted Cruz does, over and over and over. The thing he's best at is lying, and he demonstrated his skill over and over and over again.
