Former President Donald Trump responded to the House Ways and Means Committee releasing his tax returns, covering 2015 through 2020. The one-term president paid little, if any, taxes for several years. However, according to the disgraced former president, his taxes "show how proudly successful I have been."

"The Democrats should have never done it, the Supreme Court should have never approved it, and it's going to lead to horrible things for so many people," the former president said in a statement. "The great USA divide will now grow far worse. The radical, left Democrats have weaponized everything, but remember, that is a dangerous two-way street! The 'Trump' tax returns once again show how proudly successful I have been and how I have been able to use depreciation and various other tax deductions as an incentive for creating thousands of jobs and magnificent structures and enterprises."

Via CBS:

Shortly after the release of his returns, a Trump fundraising committee sent out a fundraising email with the line, "Urgent: The Democrats unconstitutionally released President Trump's tax returns." The Supreme Court declined to block the release of the returns to Congress.

The alleged billionaire paid no federal income tax in 2020, the final year of his presidency. Trump paid a net of only $750 in income taxes in 2017. He paid $1.1 million in net federal income taxes combined in 2018 and 2019.

If Lumpy's tax returns show how wildly successful he's been, he would have released them, as promised. And he wouldn't have lied about being under audit.
