Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer took a moment to address Fox News host Tucker Carlson's segment on the Jan. 6 insurrection last night as he portrayed it as a peaceful visit by sightseers. Schumer also took issue with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy for giving Carlson access to thousands of hours of security footage which the Fox News host used to lie about what took place.

"Last night, millions of Americans tuned into one of the most shameful hours we've seen on cable television," Schumer said. "By diving deep into the waters of conspiracy and cherry-picking from thousands of hours of security footage, Mr. Carlson told the bald-faced lie that the Capitol act, which we all saw with our own eyes, was somehow not an attack at all."

Carlson "tried to argue it was nothing more than a peaceful sightseeing tour," Schumer continued. "Can you imagine?"

Schumer addressed Carlson's superiors at the network, saying, "Fox News, Rupert Murdoch, tell Tucker Carlson not to run a second" segment using the security footage.

During his disgraceful segment, Carlson said, "The footage does not show an insurrection or a riot in progress."

Schumer said, "As reporting on the dominion lawsuit shows, Mr. Carlson had no problem admitting behind the scenes that the big lie is pure garbage."

Schumer called McCarthy's behavior "shameful" and said that Carlson's actions were dangerous and "an insult to every police officer who was on the scene."

Carlson showed footage of Trump supporters wandering the corridors of the Capitol, saying that the Jan. 6 Committee didn't show those clips. Sure, buddy, the committee investigating crimes didn't show the non-crime part while presenting the crimes to the public. Is he fucking kidding us here?
