While signing the Framework for Freedom Budget, Gov. Ron DeSantis continued to assault the LGBTQ+ community by attacking the rainbow flag that was celebrating Pride Month at the White House.
A reporter asked a question that was hard to hear and DeSantis did his thing.
"You know, when they had at the White House, you know, this transgender flag as the precedence over the American flag, that's wrong," DeSantis charged. "That is not how you display the American flag."
If only DeSantis was as critical of Nazi flags flown in his honor.
Rarely is the anti-LGBTQ crisis illustrated so clearly, where queer and trans people are being scapegoated and demonized by Republican officeholders and would-be stormtroopers alike. But there was a third flag of note on Saturday: A “DeSantis 2024” flag flew alongside the swastikas. That was no coincidence. DeSantis, more than any other Republican official today, stands for wielding the power of the state to enforce heterosexuality and eradicate transgender people.
