Peter Navarro is taking lessons from Tom Fitton in how to dress these days. But this video he made for his Substack (because doesn't everyone have a Substack these days?) is both incoherent and also makes perfect sense. It's incoherent in how he describes his enemies, and makes perfect sense from the standpoint that he is doing nothing but churning out some grist for the True Believers to chew on ahead of the upcoming second tranche of Trump indictments. In this video, he both threatens civil war and makes it clear he's running interference for Trump.
He begins by saying half of Republicans (or 15% of the electorate, roughly) and over a third of Democrats believe America is on the brink of civil war, without noting that Republicans and Democrats have different reasons for believing that.
"If such an unthinkable war breaks out, it will be the Democrats' fault," Navarro declared. And that's probably true, given that Democrats are going to keep pushing for equality and justice for all, instead of relegating anyone who isn't white and Christian to second-class status.
But here's where we get to the part where he's just running interference for Trump's upcoming indictments. "In their quest for power, radical elements within the Democrat Party have abandoned any pretense of fairness, tolerance, and justice," he continues. "In their woke new world, Democrat strategists use unscrupulous lawfare tactics to skew our election system, even as weaponized bureaucracies like the Department of Justice, FBI, and National Archives, now under Democrat control, seek to destroy the Republican Party and its de facto leader, Donald Trump."
Oh, those poor oppressed servants of billionaires! To think that criminal acts are being prosecuted! I mean, even the National Archives are in on the act! The agency that preserves our historical documents for generations to come! How could they?
"The Democrat activists and strategists now driving this nation towards a second civil war have neither justice nor righteousness on their side," Navarro snarled. "Instead, they are attempting to trample on our religions, disarm us, and impose all manner of woke social, cultural, and economic changes that are far outside the bounds of America's traditions, traditional values, and constitutional roots."
So wait. Now we're in WokeLand, where people are equal and treated fairly, which is sparking a culture war from...Republicans. But it's all Democrats' fault. Got it.
And finally, a warning, because Republicans like Navarro pretend they are strong when they're really just cowardly bullies.
"Pack this anti-Democratic truck up before it runs over you," he warns. "Do you not understand that the longer you engage in your assaults on American families and values, the more likely a new civil war becomes?"
So here we have the Christofascist manifesto, where everyone who doesn't hate LGBTQ+ folks and thinks women ought to have the right to control their own bodies is wrecking American families and sparking Civil War II. Alrighty then.
But wait, there's more.
"And do you not understand that the perverse precedents you are creating through your weaponized bureaucracies and woke attacks will come back to haunt you as soon as Republicans take back Trump's America from your cold, woke hands?"
Oh ho!!! Trump's America? The America of the 30%?
