According to Newsmax, the Republican clown show just got more dysfunctional. Rep. Steve Scalise is expected to drop out of the battle for the House Speakership, and Rep. Jim Jordan, who had even fewer votes than Scalise, might possibly jump back in the race. Whoa. It makes a person want to line them up to give them noogies.

"And sources are telling Newsmax that Steve Scalise will not be able to garner the 217 votes needed to become Speaker of the House," the host said. "And those sources also tell us that Scalise is expected to drop out of the race that could come as soon as today."

"Now, if that does happen, we're hearing that Jim Jordan could jump back into the race," he continued. "Remember that he only had 99 votes from the Republican conference behind closed doors yesterday, compared to a greater total for Steve Scalise. But again, if Scalise drops out, it looks like Jordan will reenter the race."

"We're also hearing that there's a possibility of Tom Emmer, who's currently the majority whip, to enter the running to become Speaker of the House, and also Kevin Hearn," he said. He is a Republican congressman from Oklahoma who leads the largest Republican caucus here on Capitol Hill. So again, Steve Scalise likely does not have those 217 votes."

"Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, says at least 20 Republicans will not be voting for Steve Scalise, whether they don't want him to be leader because of political differences or whether they're concerned about him taking on the most challenging role in the House of Representatives as somebody who's currently battling blood cancer," he added.

Wow. If they are trying to lose the House, good job, guys. It's ours to take. They are taking votes between David Duke Light and Jim Jordan, who turned (allegedly) a blind eye to sexual abuse victims while he was a coach. Holy fuckballs, why stop there? Just throw in a cannibalistic serial killer, too. And they're wondering why they can't get to 217.

UPDATE:

Scalise hasn't given up yet -- he's meeting with a handful of House Republicans to see if he can flip them. In the meantime, here are some reactions:

This sums it up well

UPDATE 2: Scalise just withdrew.
