Right-wing podcast host Steve Bannon called for former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson to be jailed over her testimony to the Jan. 6 Committee.

Bannon, who helped plot an attempted overthrow of the 2020 election, made the remarks on his War Room broadcast on Tuesday during an interview with conservative author Julie Kelly.

Kelly argued that Republicans should be doing more to investigate the Jan. 6 Committee.

"We need our own committee," Bannon said. "No, it's not enough."

"[Republicans] should have come out and said, hey, this is not acceptable," he continued. "It's called having a set of stones."

The conversation triggered Bannon to lash out at Hutchinson over her testimony damning former President Donald Trump.

"Given Cassie Hutchinson's bald-face perjury, and she should go to jail for a long time!" he exclaimed. "That's how important this is."

"You're not going to be able to stand up there and lie about a guy in the middle of a fight for the control of the country, young lady," Bannon added. "You're not going to be able to change your testimony. We got it on tape."

Bannon was convicted of contempt of Congress for refusing to talk to the Jan. 6 Select Committee. He has appealed after being sentenced to four months in prison.

Hutchinson recently told ABC that Trump's second term would be a danger to U.S. democracy if he wins the presidency.

"The fact that he feels that he needs to lean into being a dictator alone shows that he's a weak and feeble man who has no sense of character and integrity and has no sense of leadership," she said.
