Sandie Shaw - in 1964 there was a Brit Girls Invasion too.

One of the things that escapes mention, when talking about the British Invasion of 1964, is the amount of women who were making waves over here as well. Among them were Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, Lulu, Cilla Black and of course, Sandie Shaw.

Sandie Shaw, dubbed The Barefoot Pop Princess Of The 1960s was a hugely successful artist in the UK and Europe, even though she had relatively few hits in the States. The hits she did have over here were memorable including this one from November 1964, Girl Don't Come. With haunting vocals and striking presence, Sandie Shaw became synonymous with the 1960's and went on to achieve icon status with countless bands and vocalists over the years.

Sometimes you don't need to do very much in order to make a huge impression.
