Late Night Music Club with Gwen Stefani & the Soggy Bottom Boys
By bluegal Monday Oct 20, 2008 7:00pmNo apologies to purists. This is the weirdest and most brilliant mashup I've ever seen on the youtubes. Thanks Skippy for sharing.

Awesome!
I saw this on skippy's fine music club and it completely blew me away. It's always a pleasure to see it again.
Thanks, bluegal!
calgarylady is my biggest fan, and thank you so much for attending my skippy late nite music clubs!
This was really great. Gwen Stefani is just an amazing pop performer, and this mashup really works. I love how diverse the selections are in the Music Club. From The Stooges to Marilyn Monroe, there's always a fresh surprise every nite, er, night.
Homer would like Gwen. Nice stuff.
it was my pleasure, bluegal.
it's the best mashup i've ever seen. as one commentor said on my blog, it's wrong on so many levels; and as i responded, it is wrong on so many levels, and the fact that it works perfectly is one of them.
Most mash ups don't turn out anyhwere NEAR this well, nice job to whoever made it. But how on earth did they ever think of mixing these 2?
Some of the most creative people work better under pressure like that, self-imposed.

Henry Mancini.
Correctomundo.
For some reason, I knew you'd guess that one right.:)
What do you want from life?
The Tubes
I feel so honoured. Loved the prize, muddy!
It's time for me to say goodnight now. Thanks for giving me so much fun this evening.
thats brilliant
Sublime!
Awesome movie. Sexy woman.
No fucking problem here.
Amazing what passes for "brilliant" these days. Haven't had this much fun since my last kidney stone.
Yeah, I had not heard of Gwen Stefani before. I do like the Soggy Bottom Boys though.
I'm a sucker for mashups (even presented a paper on them at a Rock Conference...that's right, I get to go/present at conferences about Rock and/or Roll!). This one is pretty good, made even better with the video. THANKS!
I like this mash-up better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnhKPw2NXIw
This mashup IS pretty cool. I like it *much* better than the Gwen S. one. Thanks for posting.
*this might be a duplicate and/or triplicate post. Was having problems, sorry.
i've also featured that one on skippy's late nite music club.
this one works for the opposite reason as the stefani one...the doors & blondie are quite similar in tone, and content of lyrics also compliment each other well.
Thanks, RayC.
I like this one. Definitely check this one out.

Not altogether unpleasant, but most odd! But I love the Soggy Bottom Boys tune much better.
Holy shit.
I'd love to know how s/he thought of this. The mind works in mysterious ways! Thanks for posting it.

Here's Shadrach live in animation. very cool.
This is Awesome!
This is fabu! The syncopation with the drums and the banjo is wonderful. I never liked Hollaback Girl (or whatever it's called) before this.
Have you heard of Girl Talk?
The mash-up king of current day
i like dj earworm, who can be found at www.djearworm.com
I have to admit, I just watched this to see Gwen's ass. And that was the best thing about the vid...
went from punk rocker to pop goddess
and i love o brother where art thous...now everytime i hear that song, im gonna think about gwen's ass
Good 1, A man of constant sorrow, my grandfather and me alike, I love it.
Gwen Stefani? Really?
I wish somebody could explain to me exactly
what is the difference between her music and
the music of Britney Spears. Nicer body?
Cuter face?
Her vocals on No Doubt's Spiderwebs are
really something, though. IMHO her only
really great song.
I always liked this one a lot:
Nelly vs. Lynyrd Skynyrd
From upthread - I think there have been some guitar lessons going on in the tedeschi/trucks household - I don't remember her playing like that a few years ago. She sounds sublime.
Falco goodness with Busta Rhymes:

There's an awesome mash-up of Falco's Der Kommissar (sp?) and Usher's Yeah, but unfortunately nowhere on Youtube.

This one is more tape manipulation

I know this is LNMC, but this is just what I needed this morning before work. Thanks. Pure Win!
I've heard better mashups.
I'm not sure if I should be liking this. I surely did though, and I find that worrisome.
oooweee!
that was some mighty fine mixin!
great vid. thanks:)
p.s. iiiii'm from old kentuck'eee, i spect i'll never see it agin.,,,a lie--i'm here rite now - soon to head back to mi new home in ocean beach calafornya.
I absolutely HATE Gwen Stefani and I think that "Hollaback Girl" is a prime example of everything that is wrong with pop music. I thought I would hate this mash-up, but I love it. I must be ill, hehe. "O' Brother Where Art Thou" is just one of those movies that no matter how long it has been on, you can't not watch it.
Wow. Very nice! A l'il bluegrass hip-hopping jaunt...
Wow...just wow... Agreed, possibly the craziest mashup I've ever seen on film as well... A great vid and what's not to like about the lovely Gwen.. Well actually, maybe there was one or two other insane 'how could that possibly happen' mashups I know about. But this was waaay back in 1995,6,7.... Except back then we called these kinds of tunes siamese songs... The one that comes to mind was titled Total Eclipse out of Hell..... It was a mashup of Total Eclipse of the Heart and Bat out of Hell.... But it never made utube... Utube didn't exist yet so only a relative few hundred or so souls ever caught a certain band I was in, playing a few certain shows at the Filllmore or the Great American Music Hall and a few other venues in the Bay area who would ever have a recallection of this tune and a few others of a similar nature; Mr Roboto In the Stream, Styx meets Dolly and Kenny or Stop Draggin my Hotel California down the edge of 17.... Petty/Eagles with a touch of whatever that little blonde from Fleetwood Macs (Edge of Seventeen) name is ...Dang I ought to be able to remember who she is...arrghh.. Oh well, that little waltz down memory lane in no way detracts from this hella cool vid......Thanks skippy.......JD
Her videographers are the best
Her material is fresh!
Who would have thought of this combo - Blue Grass with Urban funk
