C&L's Late Nite Music Club with The Beastie Boys
By MaxMarginal Tuesday Jul 21, 2009 7:00pmIn very unfortunate news revealed yesterday, MCA, nee Adam Yauch, of the Beastie Boys has cancer in his parotid gland and will begin undergoing treatment next week. Yauch, with longtime bandmate Ad Rock at his side, made the announcement candidly and fearlessly via video.
Enjoy this performance of "Rhymin' and Stealin'" from 1987 and go leave MCA a get well comment on the Beastie Boys Facebook Page.

I know a lot of people who will be disappointed not to see them this summer. Get well, Adam!!!!
I wish him well.

Been listening to the Beasties since I was (and they were) a hardcore kid(s). Polliwog Stew didn't knock my socks off, but when I first heard this- their first venture into Hip-Hop- I was blown away.
I've been meeting more and more people lately who are fighting cancer, and all I can say is KICK IT, MCA!
Paul's Boutique (playlist)
Yep, the whole album. Still their best, imo.
Can't really beat that album.
I woke up with a lump on the left side of my face one morning in February 1997 and after a period of time it was determined that it wasn't an infection and they had to go in and take a look at it. I had a tumor on the Parotid gland and they removed and I did three treatments of chemotherapy and a month of radiation. Sounds like he has almost the exact same thing except mine was only in the Parotid and so it's probably Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. If he has the same treatment I did, although he didn't mention chemo (watch out for that chemo brain!) he will be in treatment including surgery and recovery for about 5 months and then recovery time after that. Not fun, but very treatable if they caught it early, which it appears they did.
And yes, if he does chemo he will lose his hair 13 days after he takes his first treatment of it to be exact.
hope adam gets better soon
The Beastie Boys music STILL kicks ass! You guys just get better and better!
There are more young people getting this kind of cancer. The connection between cell phone use and salivary gland cancer has recently been suggested:
