C&L's Late Nite Music Club with Monophonics
Posting from the road. A little nepotism. My son's band, Monophonics. (He's singing and playing keys)... they're great!
What are you listening to this evening?

Monophonics is outstanding. I'm blown away by their talent.
Nepotism, schmepotism, who cares. What a wonderful song!
Thanks, Mike :)
You probably already know this, given your musical acumen, but "Spanish Moon" is a Little Feat composition. (Which doesn't take anything from this megafunky version by the Monophonics!)

Spanish Moon is a classic ;)
"Luv it"
Is that Spanish or something?

The Merry Times, maybe ...
Right now, Mumford & Sons. The Cave.
I see your "Spanish Moon" and raise with a "Spanish Bombs".

This isn't the type of music that I generally listen to, but this song kept me spell bound. I'm glad that I clicked on the play button...
Your son and his band have an amazing talent!!! Kudos!!! You have good reason to be proud...
A weird Brazilian physchadelic samba band called Os Mutantes. Pretty good stuff.

Sir, this band is TIGHT!!! And the vocals are down right rockin!
My fave Little Feats number.
Great music! Thanks for posting.
Babysitting grandaughter right now so I can't stream, but the above comments tellme I have to listen tonight, as well as many other links.
But I can say I have worn out "Waiting for Columbus" y Feat at least 4 times and have seen them maybe 15 times. Oh, how I miss the Denver/Boulder music scene since moving to Sacramento.
But earlier you posted the Raspberries were pop monsters from Cleveland. Being an old Cleveburg boy, they were not even the best of the era or area. They was an earlier incarnation, Cyrus Erie, featuring guitarist Wally Bryson, that were better. Wally also played in a band named Target or POE before going back into raspberries for a while that was also better. At that time, the James Gang, featuring Joe Walsh were among the highlights of Cleveland pop and rock. I booked them for two performances two years before they released their 2 first albums for $150 per show for 2 nights. They honored those agreements, even though they became rather famous. Gotta love integrity.
The James Gang was followed at JBs in Kent by a band called the Glass Harp, fronted by Phil Keaggy. He left rock for Christian rock and devotional music, but he was a MONSTER guiter player. Maybe better than Walsh. You can still catch him on Christian stations occasssionally and he can still play!
There was another local band, the Choir, that went from a pop band with top 40 hits to a band fronted by Phil Gialumbardo (I think I have the spelling right) who played keys. He left the James Gang for amore keyboard oriented band. At times they had 3 keyboardists and did Procul harum covers, original material and kick ass version of "MacArthur park."
There were also two other bands from Cleveland at that time that were better than raspberries, in my not-too-humble opinon. They were Moses and Pentecost. The latter was CSNY, Buffalo Springfield, Poco cover band who started doing originals and had a real winner with a song "Gypsy Queen", but never went anywhere. I still wish I had a recording of that song on my iPOD.
Raspberries, phooie. There were much better offerings to be had as bar bands.

Mike, you done a fine job raising that lad. It's great to hear peeps playing Little Feat tunes, used to play Time Loves a Hero and On your Way Down in an old band and know how hard this material can be to do justice to. Thanks.
Generally speaking I don't trust anyone making over 150K a year.
